These people will take your case after you get a ticket . They'll probably charge $300 or more but have a success rate over 90% . http://interstatetrucker.com/Default.aspx

I would also agree with Interstate. If you are an OOIDA member they also have a referral service to local to your ticket lawyers.
Since this is your 1st ticket in 17 years, do the math of what one of these services would have taken from you over this time period! -
I call it "Lawyer Insurance." I have not had a need for a lawyer since I started slowing down. That's been over 10 years ago. I would be seriously tempted to go to court by myself on this and tell the judge that I was not going 16 mph over the limit, but I will admit to going 14mph over. The fine is probably the same. And that's only if the cop shows up. Many times they don't and the case is dismissed. But that's just me.
Container Hauler Thanks this. -
I guess it all comes down to whatever works for a person. It's not a lot of money, even over 20 or 30 years yes I can do the math does anyone here realize how much they spend on packs of bubble gum in a 20 year span LoL??, I'm sure its a lot if a person likes bubble gum, to me it is cheap and worth it. If I sat here and thought about some of the really stupid things I've spent money on and then compounded that over 10, 20 or 30 years I'd get really aggravated with myself LoL. Everybody spends money on stupid stuff from time to time. I don't think this falls into that category, you either think the service is worth it or not.

With all the electronics on trucks nowadays, the need for any pre-paid legal is unnecessary. It is sooo easy to document if you weren't speeding as much as it is that you were. Even in an accident, this data is easy to get and can be a lifesaver. Case in point, several years ago, a car pulled out in front of me and I nailed it. At first, everyone wanted to charge me that I was speeding. A simple dump of the ECM showing a record of an emergency stop, showed I was actually going 10 mph UNDER the speed limit, and had applied braking well before I had actually impacted and stopped. Short part of the story, I was not charged either by law enforcement, nor a preventable accident by the safety department. Now, I have to admit, I had to take it upon myself to get the ECM dump as evidence to defend myself. No one was going to do it for me. And that was in 1997. Long before any EOBR junk and GPS gadgets many have now. With the data records available via EOBR's, GPS units, Qualcomms, and the engine ECMs, one really has a stack of things that can work in their favor in contesting a violation. Of course this won't cure everything, and some sticky violations may need a lawyer's service, but it sure cuts down the actual need for one.
I have never seen the need for pre-paid legal. -
could.nt agree with these guys more.
all pre paid does is contact a lawyer from that town anyway.
you should call the clerk of court. the number on the ticket. truck tickets are just money grabs. they might say "pay us this much and we will drop it".
in louisiana i got a 10 over, in a construction zone, with workers present and i called the number.
since it was my first ever ticket in that state. they let me take an online course, pay 150.00+ the fifty for the course and they wiped it from my record. -
Thanks for all the input guys. I think my best course as of right now would be to get a local lawyer for this ticket. If it wasn't for the extra 2mph on the ticket I would probably pay the ticket and move on.
On a side note my wife told me the car goes faster than the speedo shows. The tire guys put on a bigger tire size than what was on before said that is what the factory called for so there I have it. So now it has been confirmed with a ticket but it wont happen again to me. Again thanks for all the input.
