I got a job right out of CDL school hauling Diesel for the oilfield and I hadn't even done my Hazmat background check yet. All I did was applied to 2-3 companies a day and by the third day I had a company sending me for a drug test/physical. They had me riding shotgun with other drivers until I got my Hazmat letter. I was in a truck driving about 20 mins after showing my boss that letter. So my advice is hit the ground running an apply to all the tanker related jobs, water, diesel, crude, acid etc.

That sounds great... congrads!!! I'm actually jealous... haha. What part of Texas are you in? I'll be coming to Texas soon... I'm finishing out my employment contract overseas at the moment. It great to hear people making it in this field... especially when you keep hearing others saying.. "you'll never get a Tanker/HAZMAT driving job in the oil patch straight out of CDL school." It always seem like other people are always trying to steer you away from trying to get a job in this field... probably to make other newbies unsure if they should even try applying. Man... again that's great!! I hope you can keep me posted on how things go with you at this job. If you have time I would like to talk to you in the future. Which I know is going to be limited... now that your making good money. "Truck safe!"

Part of it is probably that a lot of us can remember our first years driving. Hopefully, it's easier driving around in the boonies of the oil patch than it is trying to find parking in Jersey late at night.

i live in fort worth, work in Justin tx. 30 miles north. i dont have hazmat anymore, dont need it. hauling water off the well sites. easy job. dont know how hard it is to get hazmat job right out of school, i never went to school i do know most places want you to have some tanker experience befor they hire you for hazmat. that i have. if you want to haul hazmat, i suggest you haul water first, it'll give you the skills to haul crude. most places want 2 years of tanker time to put you to work anyway. if you want to talk more just pm me or post on here, i get on about 3 times a week.

Thanks for sharing. How are the hours there, like do you have to work weekends? How close/far is Houston and/or Dallas from the actual job location?

Which of these companies offer housing? Or some sort of relocation assistance? My brother lives down in killeen but that would be to far away (that I know of, I could be wrong). Any pointers on which companies to apply with? I have 14 years driving, cdl a, doubles/triples, hazmat, tanker, twic, no accidents or tickets. The only experience running a tanker is with the army, most places dont count that though. Thank you in advance for any and all replies.

    hello, jello !

gladly, that is what we are here for
    - I live about 6.6 mi, 32 mins In current traffic: going I-35 S and US-190 W and have several others who are working on the same thing, I have asked wowo6057 ( on the friends list on the profile ) to front the people stuff for me as I am not a people person so for now he will front any "emails" .... I can send maps & company names and so on, I was in Floresville Friday for a Job Fair and drove on to the Nabor's yard ... there are yards all over the place like the one at 28.861078,-97.92868 but who - if any - allows parking a camper shell -{ or any rv type for that matter }- directly on the yard or nearby is something I had to re-adjust my expectations on ..... I am still thinking & looking & writing computer-code to do the searches ~ Killeen is too far for "overnight on regular work schedule" but is definitely not too far for 2-3+ days off,.....

not many rv spots & few companies directly supporting "relocation ($) with spot for camping" but I have the main number for dispatch for a company that will take you in one phone call if you do all the ..... I do not know what it is called but I did my first one yesterday, 17 pages of paper with detailed work-history going back 10-years,....page after page of hold-harmless type legal release that tells the tale of a style of operation that head-hunters would know where they are at ~ I talked to some NY money types and if we can find drivers and accounts it is within the range of hopeful thinking to start our own co-op (?...)

I got lot's of them but I am not going to post in the clear where I can get hammered by sock-accounts......

I can find you about 50 companies that would be interested, I came up with a list of 725 for Houston using computer-code to drive the search but it is full of duplicates and retail locations so I have to do further work on it

Most of these operations in Eagle Ford Shale will be mostly concerned about the "verifiable driving history" ( which translates as insurance ) & some will discount non-tanker-yanker but I can get you the number direct to a Nabors rep who is taking zero-time drivers as long as they are clean & Class-A ..... I would call the person but I prefer Eagle Ford over Permian Basin due to climate issues

see my Thread: Nabors water-tanker in North Half Eagle Ford Shale .... as long as poster is actually looking for work I will take any traffic including sock-accounts and problem cases on that thread,....not looking for work and it is B.B.M.F.
