I can't wait to finish my 150 hours so I can see my wife. Though maybe we will get some stores near my home and I'll get to take 10 at home before heading back to the dc.

Let me know when you find out what's what and when you'll be in Zanesville. Maybe get to meet someone from ttr lol.

Doing pretty good here. New trainee got on the truck Friday. He has 35 hours BTW now.

Sitting here at Rite Aid in Charlotte waiting on them to do a load count on over 3000 cases. Had a PP to pu in Lincolnton but they cancelled it. Not sure why since the pu window was 8-2 and we would have had plenty of time to deliver it.

Hey Vince, glad to see all is well. My team partner and I
just took our first home time and had 6500 miles in 6 days.
Burned up our 70 real fast. Any suggestions on how to run
Hard as a team yet save the 70 from running out until we
Can do rolling resets and get hours back?
Also heard from your first trainee and he is finally with his
Team partner and have a new 2013 kenworth.

I'll have to give him a call sometime.

What I always tried to do as a team is not work more than 10 hours a day. That usually means only driving 9.5 hours or less per shift. I also keep my on duty hours as low as possible. Show 15 min for pre-trip (company policy), fueling only takes about 10 min on duty (as soon as I'm done fueling I switch to off duty if I need to run inside), go to off duty for any restroom or meal breaks, I show a maximum of 15 at a shipper or receiver (if I'm there longer I log sleeper birth), then I basically flag the post trip as 2-5 min on duty (the elog lady told me to show "some" time for a post trip).

Even doing all that you hope for a short day in there somewhere. But when you run 6500 or more miles it can be hard to keep the hours down.

running hard as a team 6200+ mles a week it's realy hard to not run out of hours unless you have the right break between loads or extra time you can take on a load.

right now the runs we have are 1620 each way (we have 32 hr's to do it in), 2 round trips a week, 6480 miles a week, but we burn up 120 in 6 days so then it's off to the motel for a 34 and do it all over again...

    ATL-1 Thanks this.

Thanks for all the great advice. We had time to run
7200 miles but it would have taken us away from Atlanta
    area for home time.
Craig, do you and t-bear have any tricks? I know you both
Run a Ton of miles...do you limit driving to 9 hours each in
    a 24 hour period?

yes if you only run 8.5 hrs a day driving +.25hr pretrip you will never run out of hours 8.5+.25= 8.75 * 8 = 70 hr's

    now 8.5hr's at 65 mph (truck max speed) = 552.5 miles a day * 8 = 4,420 miles a week (per driver per week)

    10.5 hr's driving + .25 pretrip = 10.75 hrs a day so you will used up your 70hrs in 6.5 days

now 10.5 hrs at 65mph = 682.5 miles a day * 6.5 days = 4,436 miles a week (per driver per week) BUT after 6.5 days running you will need a reset but your reset will be done 2hr's befor the end of the 8th day so you could pretrip and run 1.75 more hrs or 113.75 + 4436 = 4.549 or 129 more miles running HARD. doing a reset can let you run more miles in 8 days....

8 day week used because we are talking about the 70/8 rule

i didn't list fuel as it can be done at the same time as pretrip, bump dock, drop and hook would also add to onduty time

DISCLAIMER: milage and times are by calculator in a perfect world

Thanks, it is a good problem to have I guess. I wish we had
some longer runs. Our average run is about 1200 miles.
