I have my CDL Permit and i applied to these companies that will train you and assist you in getting your cdl and also hire you Roehl Prime and Stevens but they all denied me one Roehl said i have very little work experience which is a load of crap im 23 and worked at a cable company for 3 years and another company for 3 more and before that im in Highschool so thats garbage prime straight up told me that they dont hire employees that were terminated from there last job which was an eye opener and stevens just flat out denied me said try back in 6 months, its frustrating because my record is squeaky clean and never did drugs so i really dont know if its because i dont have a CDL licenses. i need to know what you guys think.

they said there not hiring out of NY which sounds kinda fishy... im telling you man i might have the worst luck on the east coast because these companies are hiring pretty much anything that moves and and never been arrested
-
Roehl can be a pain in the ###. They are nazi's when it comes to documentation and background checks.

Getting it on your own will definitely open yourself up to a lot more companies that hire drivers with no experience, but don't have their own school to actually get your license through. That being said, it won't guarantee you a job either. I had a lot of people turn me down, still ended up getting a job, and with a company I've liked pretty well.

I'd say school would be your best bet. Most schools will help you get financial aid to cover their costs. Once you're in school, bust your butt and aim to be "top gun" in your class. Many companies that I've spoken with said they looked past my work history, (took care of my ailing father for 5 years prior to school), and saw what i did in school, due to my grades.
NYC is hard to hire out of due to home time. Not many companies will go to NYC, and because of that there were a handful of guys in my class at NTTS near Syracuse that were from the city. In the interim, if you don't want to or can't move upstate, Werner might be your only bet. But they'll most likely give you a pre-hire only and then send you to school to get your CDL, in which case you'll need to get housing while there. I'm going to shoot you a PM with more info. -
1) Go back and edit your 1st post into a few sentences , makes it easier to read.
2) Were you dismissed from your cable job ? helps to tell the whole story and not just blame the trucking company.
3) Try SCHNIEDER or JB HUNT . -
schneider nor hunt have a school...........

don't mention the last company you got fired from, that just cuts your posibilities of getting a job way down
find an owner operator willing to work with you, I rather do it that way than work straight out for the big guys, I get a lot more flexibility that way and still make my desired income.
are you trying to go reefer? drive van ? have you driven an 18 wheeler before?
