OK!, this sounds kind off?, first paragraph says,, you never recieved more than 1800 miles a week, give to much time on loads for delivery, Then the second paragraph say, Wants you to run over your hours, Somethings not adding up here for me

Maybe it's not adding up because you just don't have that ability? It adds up perfectly for me and I know exactly what he is trying to say. You could run a bunch of short runs without getting the proper time off in between and be over hours and low on miles for the week at the same time. Think about it real hard.

I drive for Magnum & I'll write a few posts here as time permits, since I'm waiting on a load right now.
I won't mention much in terms of compensation because you can call a recruiter for that and besides, what you get paid may not be what I get paid.

I don't have any problem getting 10k miles/month, unless I'm taking too much timeoff. I've never been denied timeoff and sometimes I've taken 7 days in a month (like last Christmas) so that would make it tough to get 10k miles. I mention 10k because that is the threshold for a monthly bonus, get 10k miles & you get a bonus.

You are paid actual miles, not zip to zip code. You get detention pay after 3 hours. You get a paid vacation, although it is $50/day - still better than nothing. You get layover pay although I have only gotten this twice because I don't wait for load offers, I am rolling all the time. I talk to alot of drivers and there are some getting 46cpm.

Yes there are some trucks with alot of miles but the tractor repair shop does good work. Mine has 750k miles but there are no real problems.

For driver comfort: the trucks have refrigerators, APUs, and inverters.

This is not a mega-carrier. The people in the safety office & tractor shop know who you are and are friendly. The dispatchers are good people.

This is a family run business and I think they care about their employees. In May I got a phone call that my 18-year old was hospitalized, I told dispatch and I was immediately routed home. They never asked 'when will you be back?' Then my son gets cancer & this turns into a long timeoff. Never once did Magnum call and bug me to come back. I think that says alot about their values.

I've got to go, done loading - will write more later.

I'm currently a driver for Magnum, have been for a year now and consistently drive OVER 11,000 per month. My average for the year is 12,200/month, for the most part I get dispatched the way I like to run, my truck does 67 mph but I can get knocked down to 62 if I don't watch the computer rewards.

Repairs are promptly done either on the road or in the truck shop, have not had a single issue with trailers.

Dispatch treats me with respect and if I request time off, even a day.. I get routed home (Blaine area), no questions. I don't refuse any load although it is not NOT FORCED dispatch.

I would encourage any newly licensed driver to check them out, I did tons of research prior to submitting my app and this company was the ONLY one I wanted to start with.

Scooterdawg's posts were extremely accurate and were the main source for my decision.

The cheerleaders would have a lot more credibility if they had more than 10 posts. Sounds than me like damage control. Just my two cents.

I agree with avi, one of my best friend just completed his first year with them this month.
His biggest thing was getting adjusted to the whole OTR thing as this was his first gig!! He pretty much told me the same things as avi posted, I talked to him almost everyday trying to help him with anything he needed. Lots of calls LATE NIGHTS when somebody was trying to sleep but hey thats what its all about, trying to help people. I guess i remember being in his shoes once and know things can get a little overwhelming when your new at this and always tried to be there for him.

Yes some of there trucks have some miles on them but they take care of them and things get fixed when needed, never has any problems with that. People in office and shop are nice and dispatcher always work with you when there is a problem. Trailers are in good shape and trucks do have apu, fridge, and inverters. I know he's pretty happy with his choice to start out with them but i think he's just as happy that he finally gave this OTR thing a GO!!!!!

Hey avi, I start orientation 10/8. I hope to get a chance to meet you.

I have been extremely impressed with all of the people I have talked to in Fargo. I'm really looking forward to it.
