CarterBeauford - What type of home time are you getting? I am from basically the same area, so I would expect my home time to be very similar. Do you ever get home during the week? Are you parking at home or a truckstop? Haven't noticed a Cheeseman truck at the local hiding places lol.

I was talking with Yourga, but just can't get my heart (energy) into doing flatbed.

I've worked for them for 27 months and have been home every weekend except for 4 or 5 weekends, 3 or 4 of which were my choice to run to Laredo TX for the weekend for extra money. if I find myself at the SC terminal late in the week I'll try to run to TX instead of try to get home. I'm home 2-3 nights on weekends, week before last and the week before that I was home 2 nights during the week. my record is 9 nights in a row at home which I've done twice now including 4 day holiday weekends. if you live in western PA they have a lot of freight that goes back and forth between the northeast and western OH which will get you home during the week. I'll pick something up at Lima, OH, take it home for the weekend, run it up to CT for Monday morning, reload in CT, take it back home Monday night and deliver back in Lima, OH Tuesday. if I'm lucky I'll reload at Lima and head back home. many weeks I've worked 6 days straight without getting home, it doesn't happen every week but some weeks I luck out. I never have to ask to go home unless it's out of route, I had an LTL load with a final stop in Youngstown, place was closed and I was 35 miles from home and they let me go home and go back and deliver it the next morning. I've had a few entire days off during the week too where I had a load that didn't deliver for 2 days. yesterday I brought a load home from NJ, got home about 1800 and I don't have to leave out for OH until 0800 Monday so 3 nights at home this weekend.

once you work there for a year or two you can schedule time off and work 4 days a week and still take home $600-$700 for those 4 days if you have a paid holiday during your time off, or a NYC delivery in your previous week's work. it's an easy job. they have a lot of casual/part time guys and a lot of guys who work their ##### off, I try to find a balance of both. I worked 4 days last week and will take home $500, I worked 4 days the week before and took home $900, so it varies. record take home pay including a long LTL load all over TX and a layover in Laredo:

I have a private parking space near home, they don't really like you to park at truckstops.

I've heard they are a decent company but one driver told me they deadhead home a lot from MA and it sucks in the winter. I've seen quite a few of their flatbeds coming back empty, might pay all the same but it's no fun with an 8000lb trailer as your load in the winter.

Wow, I just re-read this. Health Insurance is $143 a week, that is nearly $7500 per year. Please tell me more about the HSA High Deductible - like how much a week the premium is, not the HSA contribution, but the premium. Thanks.

The Premium is $43/week The deductable is $5000 per person $10000 per family. Everything you spend including co-pays to the doctor goes to your deductable unlike the 80/20. And all Money put toward your account is tax free, you can also pay for your prescriptions out of your account tax free as well. On a bad year it is still as good as or better then a 80/20. On a healthy year its cheaper and if you are able to keep saving in your account you also can roll that money into an IRA.

Its always nice to get the "inside scoop" on a company and this sounds like a pretty decent company. My question has to do with NYC and Canada, do they force a driver to run NYC or Canada or do they give them a choice on running there?? I was with one company a few years ago who said no they did not and would not force a driver to run it but when all hell broke loose and you were the one driver in that area, well it turned out you were NOT given a choice, the old "the customer comes first" BS!! I am kicking a few companies around and its all coming down to how much time out I want to do.

No Canada and NYC are not forced. I run both Canada and NYC for the extra pay. It's actully hard sometimes to get a Canadian load or a NYC load because they compensate well. I just called safety they said "no one is forced into NYC, the driver's profile can be setup blocking them from NYC especially if the driver is uncomfortable with NYC we don't want to put them on that situation".
