Wierd, my recruiter from Schneider, Kimberly, stated 'Dootson is good with us.' I have my phone interview with her on Sunday.
Must be different strokes for different Schneider recruiters.

dhtrucker,
I guess it all comes down to what you want to do, where you want to spend your hard earned money, and how much do you really need to learn?
I also checked out AIT, but was put off by the high cost and no one-on-one time with instructors.
I also checked out several other schools in the area, and settled on Dootson.
As I said before, Schneider, May, Swift, Werner, and lots of local companies recruit from Dootson. Take that to mean what you want it to mean.
I enjoyed my training at Dootson and feel I am trained enough to move on to the next phase of my career, training with a company, where I will learn the important stuff.
Good luck in whatever you decide to do.mje Thanks this. -
Yea, financial aid is a really good option for me right now. To my understanding I simply apply for aid that covers training school just as I would apply for aid at any other school.
mje Thanks this. -
And doesn't it matter if you apply, get contracted, get training and then head off to the carrier directly from the school?mje Thanks this. -
Hey everyone, I am thinking of joining a trucking school and I'm looking at crst and cr england i would like to hear opinions on which one would be best if anyone can help me w this I'd appreciate it.....
mje Thanks this. -
I would check out community colleges in your area that offer truck driver training. It's usually cheaper, easier financing and better training. Then you aren't committed to anyone in case you don't like them. -
Central Tech in Drumright,OK. School is 4 1/2 weeks. They also have housing available. I was sponsored by a company that paid for everything, school, housing, and CDL. i had to stay with the company for one year which is a good thing because there is so much to learn your first year anyway.

What do you guys think of this school National tractor trailer school (NTTS) its in upstate ny and they have a 18 week course do u think thats worth it?
-
I think I'd enjoy road training with a group, rather than one-on-one. That way I can learn from others' mistakes as well as my own.
-
That's a good point about the type of training, do you think that when on the road and all the mistakes that you encounter are made out of lack of training the "correct way"?
