If your in front of me or behind me in line at the check in window, I'd care. At least throw on a sock and some flip flops.

I own a pair of flip flops, otherwise called shower shoes, and that is the only place they are used. Driving I use closed toe shoes, either boots if I am wearing jeans or sneakers if in shorts.
I prefer not to wear gym shorts for work, but I take a pair for when I am sleeping in a shippers door, that way I am dressed, but comfortable.
I have a collection of mechanic's type, or bowling type shirts that I wear allot of the time. They are comfortable and look good.
When I was in flatbed I was chaining loads every day, and tarping at times. So I got dirty allot. Showering every day and having allot of clothing around is very important. In reefer or dry van I can stretch to showering every other day at times. But I prefer to be clean.
If you cannot make it to a location where you can get a free shower it can get expencive. Up to 12 bucks in allot of locations. And a few of those per week hurt bad. -
Being from California, do they try to keep you around surrounding states or is it likely I will get to travel far east?
-
I live in FL and I've been to 39 states, including CA, OR, and WA. If you WANT to stay on the west coast look into kraft dedicated after 6 months. I ran Kraft dedicated out of stockton CA in training and only left the left coast once. If you want to go everywhere, that can be arranged just as easily.

Whoever casey (male) is at weekend WVC dispatch, he is the most rude, unhelpful person I have ever dealt with at this company. Today was the second time I have had to deal with him. The first time I couldn't figure out how to get a load delivered ontime (appointment times were weird) and his answer was to take the load from me. fortunately I got it figured out and kept the load. Today I'm picking up a load from hershey's. I was supposed to pick it up yesterday when I delivered, but it wasn't ready. Went back this morning, when they said to come back and it wasn't ready. They said to call back, but that it wont be ready until sometime after 1500 (24 hours late). Well no one there answers the phone, I dont want to start my clock until its ready, and casey's answer is "what do you want me to do about it?" He acts like this is a simple problem and I shouldn't be wasting his time with such simple hiccups. Certainly they must have some contact with hershey's other than a phone that doesn't get answered.
ok, rant complete. I'd feel better now, if this wasn't ruining my week. -
when that happens ask for another load. why would you want to just sit around and wait? get another load and get moving someone else can haul that load when its finally ready.
-
Coming out from home time it's likely you'll get headed Midwest and bounced around from there. If your new, you probably won't go to far east. And you probably won't see the western states til you are headed for home.
-
I'm from WA and would get a nice 1600+mi load out to IL and then bounce around 500-800mi loads then get a load back to slc right before home time and then get a load home. It helped because I was not tempted to swing by home and helped me focus on working.

I have sandles and like crome will use them in the shower, I also toss them on to help the student back in(if I did not have my shoes on at the time.
I will ware jeans and a t-shirt most of the time and toss on my trai.er shirts at customers. As a driver I would always ware polos and clean jeans.
I have even bought a student a pair of jeans (that fit) and a polo shirt to ware at customers because all they had with them was a pair of pj pants, 1 pair of ripped sweat pants and 1 pair of basketball shorts that liked to sit 3/4 down the bum. He also had 2 t-shirts and 1 wife beater, both t's had explicit print.Jarhed1964 Thanks this. -
i wear slip ons all the time. throw onmy boots when load or unload.
my feet get sweaty wearing shoes.
