It's not all self dispatch any more. Things are in flux right now. Bill booked 5 loads and I booked 2 over 9 days. Have mixed feelings on that but can't complain about the results at all. Was a slow week but did very well anyways. Really just chomping at the bit for the freight to get crazy busy again when it does I'm relatively sure we'll blow past my second quarter results, which were incredibly good. Four months to go in the year.. ..September12th is my 1st full year contracted with F2F.

I have been following some of your posts and I saw where you were averaging $2.90 a mile. Is your weekly/monthly average still around that number? What is the main line of freight that Bill and you guys haul? Dry Van, Refer, Flatbed?

That may have been a week. My ledger is out in the truck I did about 20,000 miles 2nd quarter on the odometer. 23% of those miles empty. I know my loaded mile rate was $3.54 a mile, with deadhead figured in it was either $2.72 or $2.78 I will have to check that. Those are "to my truck numbers" I pull a dry van some of the drivers pull flats. Anyone else's results may vary I put a lot of thinking and work with what I do but I enjoy every minute of it. My average length of haul is 400 miles , driving is my only real free time to relax, maybe 6-8 hrs driving in a 24 hour window. Maybe 4 or 5 hours sleep in that same window. Lots of work in between those times looking for freight keeping tabs on things, paperwork - in the sleeper berth of course. I'm not solar powered only. When it's time to work I'm all business and have never took as much satisfaction from any part of the previous job, there is just something about going out there (Dave Ramsey turn of phrase here) killing it, and dragging it home. Haven't even scratched the surface yet just getting started with the new system.. We never planned this. It just fell into our path..

Today is Aug 25th, on July 25th I flew out to Portland OR to pick up my truck and start driving for Farm2Fleet.

For my first 3 weeks out....

    Expenses : $13,550
    Income : $14,768
    Profit: $1218

I had a week that got cut short two weeks ago dealing with a family death when my aunt passed away and this week lost days when I was in the shop for looking into my front axle issues. I have about a week to run and have it planned out now to minimize down time with a kingpin repair, alignment and new steers installed.

Miles driven total for the month is 11470.

Overall Revenue per mile is $1.28 all miles.

NOT where I'd like to be.

This week I had loads that were paying 300 and 330 for 88 or 120 miles. But when you add in 50-80 miles dead head on each of those loads, the overall average is KILLED.

Miles ran for the month, on target.

Revenue earned for the month, on target. I had hoped for an overall average of $1.52 per mile ALL miles.

I ran pretty much off of Internet truckstop load board and that included a dumb week to drive to Houston two weeks ago. First week was coming home with the truck from Washington state, second week was to Houston and back to MN, third week was out to Flint MI and then back rather quickly for a funeral and this week was fighting with a bunch of local stuff and trying to see if I could scrounge up short mile/high paying freight close to the house. Having to deal with a day in the shop estimating out the front end didn't help any.

    Total miles this week? 1068.

Plus I paid for 3 tires.

Thanks for the response. Great to see that you are making a ton of money! It is good to know that there is a small company out there that is taking care of its people and at the same time providing them a great opportunity to make a great living. Does Bill have a specific freight lane/system set up for you, or are you picking spot freight from load boards?

    BigBadBill Thanks this.

I discovered this on spot. Knew what it was and was able to get aggressive on pricing, found the sweet spots, and became a reliable known quantity to the brokers and the customers too. It all took off from there. Turned Bill's second driver on to it to help keep it all off the boards. That's my friend Mike we're both doing this. Developed simple nifty system and made a name for ourselves Got referrals to no nonsense brokers who gave respect and didn't flinch at offers or counters. Little bit of luck. MNdriver you don't have to be in that situation. The tools are there.

Having to get home to outfit a truck, not living in Tennessee and having a family emergency haven't helped in three weeks. ;)
