Well then, where to begin? First off, dont worry about lack of experience on knowledge, everyone on here has been there. That you will learn through driving school/training, as well as after you get out on your own. Are you looking at a driving school at a local community college, or going through a training mill by the big box companies? I WOULD DEFINATELY CHOOSE THE DRIVING SCHOOL AT A LOCAL COLLEGE!!!! Either way, there will be more training after you 'graduate'. In fact, I think i speak for everyone on here that the learning never stops. Before doing any of that, ask yourself first if waking up in a parking lot smelling of urine at 500 in the morning is worth the $.35 a mile you will be getting. Then look at what you have at home, Do you have kids, family you care to see more than once every two or three weeks, any debt or big expenses? If you have any debt or big expenses, take care of that before going over the road, it will make it much more enjoyable for you. If you've thought everything through and it still looks appealing, congratulations, you are on your way to what can be a great job. The first few years are gonna stink, you will have days where you just wanna park and go home. But after you put some time in doing slave type work for little money, Trust me, it does get better if you look around. And remember work smarter, not harder.
Am i too much of a newbie?

Sam Hell Thanks this. -
Driving a truck is not difficult and far from rocket science, you should be fine...
AXE Thanks this. -
When I started I was in the same boat as you, I never drove a truck or stick before in my life. Now, I am not the best driver out there and far from it, but my lack of knowledge did not stop me.
About a month ago I could get in a truck and could not move it 3 feet, but now I can jump in and do the basics like double clutching and know the proper way to start a truck. I know that if I am bob tailing I need to only release my parking breaks and so on.
I say all that to say I was the newbie and felt the same way as you, but you can learn this just be teachable and believe it or not it's best you have never drove a stick before because you don't have old habits to break like putting the truck in neutral before you make a complete stop.
All this you will learn while in school so just keep ya head up and keep trying you can do this!!Sam Hell Thanks this. -

What is double clutching lol...
and I don't know if you were trying to be funny but that part about bobtailing and releasing your parking brake was gold.. -
My advice to you find out how the shift pattern on the truck you will be training in (is it 8 speed, 10 speed etc) this will ease some of the strees of shifting. -

We got a guy in my class that has never driven a standard transmission until now and he is doing fine.
