A few years ago, I had requested a previous employment verification on driver. I sent the request off, and I not only received the information that I had requested, I also received a hand written letter from the company. This letter had verbally bashed this candidate (whether it was true or not; I really didn't care). I called the candidate and told him about this letter, and asked was he aware of what ABC Company was telling potential employers, his response was no, he had wondered why he wasn't being hired. I told him that if he requests a copy of the letter, I would be more than happy to send it to him. The only advice that I can tell you guys it is YOUR RIGHT to request a FREE copy of your DAC report (which you are entitled to a free copy of once a year), also spend the 10.00 to get your PSP report. You have to know what it on there, so that you can do what you need to do, to protect your CDL. And also, remember a lot of employers when you are submitting your application, the first thing that they do is run that DAC report, and start requesting your backgrounds. So, if you neglect to disclose something, that automatically reject your application. And if you don't disclose a felony or misdemeanor from 20-30 years ago, because you were young and stupid and you don't think it should matter, it could potentially disqualify you as the employer could say that you falsified your application. I am sorry that I am ranting on and on. The point that I am trying to make, is that we are all trying to make better lives for ourselves. When I was younger I job jumped quite a bit. Now, that I am older I can honestly say that I have only had 2 jobs within the last 15 years. And as you begin your job search, you should know what previous employers are saying. Sometimes you get someone who just goes on and on about things that they should not be saying. I typically take things when I verified previous employment with a grain of salt. And the other thing to remember about the larger carriers, if you run over a curb, they are reporting it to potentials.
