I know there's a sticky thread for this but i thought maybe more people would see this out here. I have a Class C Misdemeanor for drug paraphernalia (and I know everyone says this but it truly wasn't mine and had no idea it was there) its been 3 and half years now it was in early '09. And I have no accidents in the last 3 years, but i have one hanging barley on to the 5 year mark that was my fault. And I have two speeding tickets. And my question is with this kind of rap sheetdo I have any chance of landing a job out of school with no experience?

Find an owner operator on your area, main problem is your speeding tickets(insurance purposes),never know try.
ShakeyJake Thanks this. -
Your best bet would be to start calling around to different companies and see what they have to say. I would get multiple opinions before even signing up for school. You can try the mega-carriers and the smaller mom and pop companies. The smaller companies will be a lot more forgiving.
Good luck...ShakeyJake Thanks this. -
Probably not.

The misdemeanor should not be much of a problem, although the connection to drugs may raise some eyebrows. The speeding tickets could cause you more problems, depending on your speed. Anything over 15 mph is considered reckless driving. Reckless driving within the last three years may prohibit you from being hired by some carriers. To start with I would get a copy of your MVR so that you can see exactly what is showing. Most potential employers and their insurance companies will pull a 3 year report. If something appears that is older than 3 years it will usually not be considered when making hiring decisions. There are some carriers who do hire inexperienced drivers and some will assist you in getting your CDL or in training. Hiring requirements can change from time to time. Your best bet is to call some of those carriers where you may be able to work and see what they say. Worst cast scenario is you may need to wait until the speeding tickets drop off your record. Most carriers will allow up to 3 moving violations. Some will not allow more than 2.

For others that might find themselves in a similar situation.
If you get caught with drug paraphernalia belonging to others...
Go get a drug test immediately to help prove you are not a user!

I found a little baggie of marijuana and a bunch of old needles under the back seat of a used car. I'd have never known that stuff was there if I had not been running wire for speakers. The junkie who owned it long ago must have been in the habit of shooting up in the back seat. At least I didn't get stuck. I put all of it in the trash and it has never caused a problem since!
Beware old vehicles, you never know..Sam Hell Thanks this. -
