It didn't say he did drugs. Where did it say that this individual did drugs? The article only explained various reasons why CSRT just dumped people off. Not that he specifically did drugs. I've had to find my own way home because I couldn't pass a DOT due to high blood pressure once. I told medical assistant that cuff was too tight. 3/4 of us sent home and told to find our own way due to high blood pressure. So it isn't just drugs these companies will do that for. I was smart and had money for ride back home.

I get home, see regular doctor, nothing was wrong with blood pressure. What was common of all of us sent home? We were all considered overweight. There isn't one law that protects discrimination for over weight people. All left in orientation were skinny people.

It says so in the fourth paragraph in this article. http://www.kgan.com/shared/newsroom/top_stories/videos/kgan_vid_12051.shtml on the first post of this thread.

Here is the quote from the article: "Adrian has been homeless since he was expelled from CRST’s training school back in November after failing a drug test."

Here is a guy who did not have the good sense to find out about drug screening before taking the bus trip and now he's playing to the press like he's a victim and crying like a sissy girly boy. He needs to grow up and get some smarts! No sympathy here!

I thought that referred to another driver and not him. Well, never mind. I need to pull my foot out of my throat...

If you spend enough time 'round here, you'll hear people badmouth just about every company that hires drivers. It usually happens after that person does something to get fired (i.e. failing a drug test, crashing, chronic tardiness, damaged freight, etc...) ...and then blames the company for letting them go.

You'll also hear people say good things about those exact same companies. A good fit for one person could be the next person's worst experience of their life. Not everybody is the same, and neither is every company. When you find a good fit, you'll know it. Until then, don't burn any bridges or do something stupid that will end your career.

...and as far as CRST's policy on failed drug tests or falsifying applications, why should ANY company have to foot the bill to send home a prospective employee who intentionally tried to deceive the company in order to get hired? If you're honest and up front and just don't make the cut, yeah...they should help get you home....but when you lie & try to cheat your way into a job and get caught? You're on your own. Goodbye. Don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya.

My trainer had 10 years under his belt when he trained me. Before he started his career he went to orientation at a different company and failed a backing test and was let go. He was homeless. Called another company and their orientation was 4 days from when he arrived at the bus station. He had to wait in a McDonald's at a bus station til the company ride picked him up to get hotel and start classes. The rest is history. Maybe u have a clue that most jobs drug test today. Its not the companies fault. If your overweight and the company wants to save money on insurance its their right, its a business aspect of things. Rather u get hired and stranded after medical conditions? I don't blame CRST but also wouldn't work for them.

While i feel that a lot off people cause their own misery,i do feel that if the big CDL mills said to potential candidates that you need X amount off $ when coming to our orientation or school ,it would solve a lot off problems.

But they won't do that as it will reflect badly on them.

Maybe the conclution is that neither party in this story is innocent.

I think they do need to do the drug test before someone gets on a bus. i quit all that when i started driving knowing that i could get pulled over and tested.

I worked for CRSt for three months got rank and hauled ###. This company is just a stepping stool where they hire inexperience driver to stack cash. they are not all that bad. but this is true. But I was smart enough to ask my recruiter before I took the free bus ride to OKC."what would disqualify me and will you buy my ticket to get back?" he clearly said false info

If anyone bothered to read the package online on CRSt'S website they would find out everything they need to know so they don't get stranded. Besides, my momma alway told me to make sure I had money to get home before I went anywhere. I don't feel sorry for that dude, he was probably homeless before he got on the bus for cedar rapids. As for you Kalli, I hope ur not still a pot head.
