Can anyone give me true facts on the Schneider Family Dollar account out of IN? I live in KCMO and am thinking of going to SNI for this dedicated position. What kind of miles can I expect? Will I get home often? How hard is the unloading at each stop etc.? Any comments are truly appreciated.

If it's anything like SNI Dollar Tree dedicated here in the NW it's a miserable job,I did it for 8 months and they were always short on drivers because it just didn't pay well enough for the amount of work involved.
They ran me to death,I was exhausted all the time,#### hard work especially in hot weather throwing frieght inside that hot trailer so when you are done you're just beat and then you have to drive your butt off to make it back to the DC for the next load.
I did get most every Saturday off but I was so tired and sore I just couldn't do anything else but rest. -
They're all that way. Why do you think they have to ACTIVELY BEG drivers to join the "highly desirable" Dollar General/Dollar Tree account? Most drivers, experienced or not, end up with an "incident" on their history inside of the first year of doing these god-forsaken deliveries, every day, 25 days a month (if they make it past the first 3 months). Somebody has to do it, yes. But the pay needs to be in excess of 5k month guarantee to be appropriate for the hassle, issues, and physical brutality involved.

Most of these accounts not a lot of miles. you make your money unloading. it really helps to live close to warehouse.

It's crap grunt work for crap pay. Might as well go drive for an LTL if you like touching freight that much. At least they pay a decent hourly wage and let you go home at the end of the day. And they don't put you into stupid driving situations with a 53'.
-
Agreed on the stupid driving situations, i deliver coke to family dollars and dollar generals and some of those parking lots are extremely tight for a 53. I've actually seen a couple ones that had to unhook their trailer after parking so the truck didn't hang out in the road

We had some sort of Schneider superfloater around the shop when we got really busy this summer, he said he has been filling in on every sort of account all over the company for something like 10 or 15 years. This guy said Family Dollar was far, far worse than anything else he's done and it's the only thing he refuses. Others have described what he described: brutal physical labor unloading poorly loaded trailers and lots not designed for the size of truck we're running.
Personally I would leave that job to somebody bolder, stronger, more skilled and/or more desperate. -
WOW!!! I appreciate
all the feedback. Guess I'll make the call and decline!! I'm not desperate

Hi I am considering taking on the challenge of this Family Dollar account in Duncan Ok. I was wondering if any of you have experience in that area? I am currently working for Halliburton driving bulk trucks in the cement department. The unloading won't be a problem for me. I currently have to rig up all the iron at the rig sites and its hard work. I do see the tight spots being an issue at the stores. I drive by a few Family Dollar's and I have noticed they got some small areas to manuever in.

The hand unload of every piece on the trailer that is floor loaded to the ceiling......To much grunt work for me.
I was offered a gig with Family Dollar, the recruiter said about 900 to 1000 a week pay......I laughed at him!
I make more than that in 4 days and it is all on pallets and i have an electric pallet jack.
