why do drivers stand for governed trucks?

not sure what the question is? is what a good idea?

 

I think the answer to the question he was asking without asking is, yes, he should be drug tested.

 

A 60-65mph truck in a 80mph zone.... and you know those fourwheelers will break 100.

 

company goverened my truck in 03, bought my truck in 04 never looked back. Triple digit for sure. Been there done that & paid for it!! Just set the cruise and roll on down the road anymore, I know its there if I need it. Looking to buy a newer one, although I dont want a 2012 with all the polution bs

To me home time and pay are what matters. I really couldnt care less about what i drive and how fast it goes. If im home every night, weekends off and take home at least $1000 per week after taxes i could drive a Toyota Prius at 54 mph pacing Prime for all I care.

 

More than likely, it's not the companies decision to make. Insurance is the driving force behind speed limiters. if the insurance company says slow the trucks down, you better believe the trucks will be slowed down, or they wont have insurance.

 

My truck is governed at 68 but I drive 57 most of the time. I still get there and get my miles for the week. The only thing I can control is how fast my truck goes....that adds up to good fuel mileage and that adds up to over $800 a quarter in fuel bonus!

 

I had been in trucks governored at 65, and 63 now I am with a company when my 2013 that goes into the shop going goes 68 mphs an i get a 2013 thats a rental thats goes 75 to 80 mphs . Lets talk fuel mileage! At 68 mph i get 6.8 to 7.0 miles a gallon at 75 mph to 80 mphs same load same runs same conditions, mountains, wind , and traffic, AT 75 mph tp 80 mph with a trailer of 43991 in the bunk I get wait for it wait for it 9.8 to 10.3 miles a gallon, and some will say i am full of it, however Volvo, Kenworth, and Peterbilt all say that these miles I get are the low end of the industry that I should get 10 to 13 miles a gallon at 68 mph but all the new technology and all the computer systems they put into the company trucks governored at 68 miles cause the fuel to drop dramatically. At 55 mphs in my company truck I get between 5.0 and 5.5 mpg. In a truck thats opened up and don't have all the computer programs I can get between 8.9 and 15 mpg depending on the terrain and how much is in the trailer. Now you tell me what makes more sense for a trucking company and its not my insurance telling our company to turn the trucks down since we are self insured!
