As you can see everyone's schedule varies and you will really never have a set schedule unless you happen to drive a dedicated run. It is very, very important that when you do get your load assignment you do your trip plan and let your DM know asap when you can be there! You may have 8 days to go 1200 miles but you want to get that load and boogie on down the road! You want to arrive at your destination as soon as you possibly can and really try not to dilly-dally in between! The sooner you get to your destination the better chance you have of delivering early, rescheduling your appointment, or arranging to drop somewhere for another driver to deliver later on. It may not happen every time but you always want to get there as soon as you can. This is how the drivers that make over $50g's a year do it! The quicker you can get that load off you the sooner you can get another and be down the road making some good miles! This is you obtain maximum mileage! Once your dispatcher sees you are capable of doing this then you will really start getting the good runs and lots of miles.
You also don't have to leave it up to your dispatcher all the time to make things happen. Be proactive for yourself! Call and try to reschedule those appointments for an early drop off yourself. Your DM will love you for it! The less you bug them the more they will like you! The more they like you the better the runs and miles!
You really have to hustle out there if you want to make good money! If average is what you are after then just go with the flow and make your deliveries according to what is on the bills. One thing for sure, you will have a lot more down time! The money making drivers out there are real hustlers and can run circles around most!jamesd503 Thanks this. -

Not very much I run dedicated LTL Florida every week and we are busy. -
I am logging anywhere from 14-16 hours off duty daily!!!!
Of course that is adding waiting at shipper/receivers to the 10 hour reset.
