LJ Kennedy was not "taken over", or bought out by P&S. LJK went out of business on their own, after Mike Krohn ran them into the ground, and a couple of management types went over to P&S, including Mike Krohn.

The Human resources guy from LJ was let go about a year before they went under. He went to Eastern Freightways, and is actually a real good guy. I imagine that he is also the reason that Eastern got into flatbed, and also treats their drivers to decent pay and benefits.

LJK is kaput? I remember them R model Macks pulling baled garbage to the Keystone landfill back in the 80s.

ljk is long gone, ran into the ground by some scumbag thats over at P&S now. its what happens when the guy that ran the company and cared about it and its drivers dies, and it gets passed off to a "logistics expert"....

I've been with them for a year now. I came from Watkins & Shepard out of Missoula, MT and was looking for better pay, more home time and better equipment.

I came to P&S and got all three. I've been home all but about 7 weekends and they were all by choice. They're usually full weekends too (if I don't procrastinate and get home later than I could've! ) No trucks in the company driver fleet more than three years old. All of us make 27%. For me that works out to 41 cents loaded and 38 total on about 10,000 miles a month.

Downsides? We do tarp often. DH's can be long.

For me though, I couldn't be happier. And the longer you're here, the more you learn about what pays better and you can sort of steer your dispatcher in certain directions.

Hope it helps. Let me know if you have any questions.
