Why don't you just have an inverter (2,000 watt) installed? That will run everything you need to run.

As to your cell question, Verizon probably has the best coverage out there.

for starters. you CAN'T talk and surf the internet at the same time. UNLESS your in a 4g area.

the tether feature utilizes the wifi but still receives through the main cell phone antanae. 2 modules being used.

if your smart. google is your friend and will tell you everything you need to know about tethering your phone. WITHOUT spending 30 for the feature or 60 for the hotspot with the same internet allowance.

and out on the road. it works really sweet. but sometimes you do have slow spots.

as for using skype. ANYTHING video related will eat up your internet allowance in a heartbeat. surfing is ok. skyping is not. unless you're with sprint. then eat away. cuz they are the only UNLIMITED carrier out there.

as for inveterors. walmart sells a 400 watt inveter that should power everything just fine. and plugs right into the socket. but you want a ps3 and a tv. so like the above poster mentioned. check the wattage between the two.

i have a laptop with a usb tv tuner. and it plays dvd movies. and a printer. i do my logs on laptop. my phone plugs into the socket in the cab. occasionally i have to send or receive a fax. which requires my phone for the internet. my printer to scan or print. and my laptop which has the faxing software.

i surf the internet over a meal. the rest of the time i'm driving or sleeping. i don't have time to watch tv or play games. i'm busy making money so i can be home for the weekend doing my 34. :biggrin_25519:

Jailbreak or root your phone and you won't have to pay extra teathering fee.

And yes, you can browse and talk on 3g depending on your carrier. I do it all the time with at&t

If you're doing it right, how to spend your leisure time will be the least of your worries.
You will sleep, trip plan, sleep, eat, fuel, sleep, trip plan, sleep, eat, shower, sleep, etc.
Learn to manage your time and the nuances of the business first, then get yerself set up.

A 19 inch LED tv runs about 20 watts to run, the ps is gonna take anywhere from 80 - 200 watts usually it will depend on the model. Schneider only allows 180 watt inverters max. When I asked why they said they order the weakest legal wiring for cost reasons on their trucks and therefore it can't handle any bigger. This seems a little low from personal experience, I try not to put anything too taxing on any one outlet. I use millenicom internet which is basically a usb internet stick for sprint without the contract. IMO it is NOT worth it, sprints amount of 4g all over the country sucks, when you have it tho it is great. I've gotten over a meg download speed in 4g.. its pennies to the dollar on 3g tho.

sprint is still trying to find there place in the 4g market. they were the first to roll out 4g. but instead of using lte for whatever reason. they signed up with wimax. which was a big gamble that didn't work out.

there new phones now have lte modules instead of wimax modules. they are transitioning to lte and you should start seeing results next year. although they still have the wimax system in place with no plans to shut it off for 3 years i think was there timeframe.

i was quite happy with sprint. but i run a lot of northwest. which is basically bare. and verizon hasn't been much better.

i have also learned that it's really not the carrier. it's usually the phone. i've seen same carrier phones that work better or worse then same carrier phones in the exact same spot.

my boy and i had verizon. his phone worked. mine didn't. we had sprint. my phone worked. his didn't.
    that was at home.

Thanks for the info so far.

To shed more light on the Ps3 question: its the newer Slim Ps3...From what I have read it averages about 198 watts duing normal use and peaks (during startup and while playing blurays) at 250 watts.

I hate to say it, but the Ps3 is my biggest concern for going on the road....so once again I ask, does anyone know for sure if I can find an inverter that plugs into the cig lighter outlet and not to the battery that will power my Ps3 in a Schneider truck?

Yes, my cig plug inverter would run my small tv and playstation, but just barely.

And if it doesn't? Buy two small cig plug converters. There are many cig plug outlets in your big truck.

    You'll be fine.
