frost, if you lease, heres a little trick. go in the the performance tab of the performance monitoring page. look at the idle fuel number and multiply it by the price youre paying for fuel that week. once you see how much cold air costs you wont feel comfortable in a cold, stationary truck. if that doesnt work stay company. 20% idle is too high for a lease imo. (DDT on meat loads excluded, because you usually have to sleep through the day, or try, and then drive through the night when youre used to driving days)

Thanks, and I realize that. That's why I think the APU would be worth another 8 grand. But, like youbetternting at, I need to do much better. I just know I was struggling to get under 60% the first couple of weeks. It was a lot of nigh driving and a reset in freaking Louisiana. Appreciate any input though for sure. I want to make it as a professional driver because I've excelled at everything else I tried and this is the first time I've done something I really felt like I was made to do. Keep the good advice coming!!

Stupid iPhone autocorrect. *you are hinting at

Ya for what you spend at night idling you could #### near get a hotel room! I highly recommend an APU! We had one and we ran team and it was still beneficial! Try to find a good used one in the classifieds or Craigslist or something. Maybe even call around to some dealerships or mega-carriers to see if they have any used ones for sale. The Thermokings and Carriers are fairly the same however the Thermoking one is quieter. Brand new they will run you around $8000 or so. Most definitely worth it!
Arkansas Frost Thanks this. -
Hey guys-I'm in training at the Jacksonville, AR TDA for central now and leaving for SLC on Sat. I want to give a quick thanks to PSUmoose and BiggRigg for the post and all the great stuff ive been reading for the last 3 nights
. I just want to see if anyone has been to SLC recently or is there now and if the training is close or the same as it was back when Bigg and PSU were there so I have a good idea as to what to expect. I'm the only one in my class here and I have absolutely no trucking experience just 2 cross country driving trips in my lil ranger. So I dont really have anyone whos been on the road recently I can talk to. Also if any women are on here (it the internet had to tell sometimes) who could toss any advice my way if theres anything extra they would recommend. You guys are awesome thanks for the laughs and info!

Cant help you with this question at this time. Haven't made it to the road with trainer yet. But keep watching as I will update as I can. PSUMoose will be able to help you with that question. What I have been told is 1 day for every 7 out, but plan on being out 5-6 weeks. Remember no money coming in if your at home.
