If there training was like ours, where the instructor is sitting next to the student the entire time that he is driving, then I would say it is a top rate training system and the student is going to walk away a better driver than with a shorter time. But from all that I have read, the student is driving alot of the time while the trainer is asleep in the bunk as they are running like a team.
If I am wrong about this then I stand corrected, but that is what I gathered from my initial inquiries and from reading posts.

The other thing that I do not like about Prime is that they brainwash all of their people into believing that OTR means you need to be out 4 to 6 weeks and if you are not willing to do that or do not like that, then maybe you are not cut out for otr. When the truth is they keep them out that long because it is easier on them and only have to actually plan they routes once every 6 to eight weeks instead of every week like Maverick.
I am not a Prime Basher, just what I have observed and my PERSONAL experience with them when I was deciding who to go into trucking with. The above attitude was very evident in responses that I received when I had the nerve to ask about home time.
I know that Prime is a big advertiser on this forum and it is almost a sin to say anything negative about them. If I get banned for saying what I think, then who wants to be on here anyway!

I in no way even hinted that nothing they do is right as you said. I pointed out one thing that I did not like.

My post had nothing to do with you Jim. It was about Dan being willing to say that he felt their training program was good. I also respect the points you bring up.

    sewerman and JimTheHut Thank this.

Sorry, My Bad! I actually think that Prime is a very good company. Just do not like the things that I pointed out.

There are other companies out there that are as good as Maverick. The key is finding one that is better! No sense making a lateral move unless there are other advantages to it that you like.
I have actually found a couple that I could be happy with.

I agree about their brainwashing. They convince their drivers that the only way to make money is to stay out a month or two at a time. They also have their lease drivers convinced that their lease is the best deal out there which after seeing the numbers first hand it amazes me they get anyone to sign unless they just dont have many other options. Of course Ive had drivers tell me Mav's lease is a joke too lol.

mav's l/p program actually didn't seem too bad.....until they got to the Cascadia's, I think $140,000 to $180,000 by the time you pay it off if I recall correctly.

I know a couple of fellows that were burned pretty badly at Prime with their l/p program.

You gotta remember that 140k is after you add in interest. It would be the same if you went to a bank. The "cash" price for the Cascadias is quite a bit less, its comparable to dealer lots. Imho
