Tinting on truck windows is legal

my a/c worked really good in the southern heat of 120 degrees. and the sleeper doesn't work.

last year i was in a t600. i could park that truck in phoenix with front AND rear going and sleep in a blanket.

course, i do all my own a/c recharging.

 

unless you can find tint of 8 %. your can forget about it. cuz the window already has 22 % from the factory.

 

I saw at the chidress scale in TX, an O/O had tint on his windows, and the officer gave him the choise of removing the tint or the ticket, the driver produced a box, that had "DOT APPROVED", the officer did'nt care, said remove or i can just right the ticket!, the driver opted to remove the tint, Arguing will get you nowhere

 

I do like the t600. The biggest thing I found to work was the window curtains you can get off ebay or similar sites. Mine cost $35. They block all sunlight, nice and thick, also double as seat covers for a wet bobcat. Keep 100% of the sun out, and you're fine.

If you're driving and it's getting too hot, like you said, recharge the a/c. It should freeze you out with both units working.

So yeah, it's legit.

 

I have seen it on two trucks, it is not dark and you cannot tell it is on the window.

 

Well while we are on the topic, are there any other old timers out there that have noticed that the skin on your "door" arm is thinner and more prone to brusing and bleeding when bumped or scraped? Yes I know that everyone exp. some of this as you age, it is normal, but my left arm from elbow down is much more sensative than my right?

All those years of driving window down (before A/C) and or driving window up, arm exposed? Anyone else?

 

Yep I do have the same situation with my left arm, mostly due to 3rd degree burns and skin graphs but it does not help with the sun on it.

 

There is no such thing as "DOT APPROVED" for commercial vehicles. CMV regulations are 70% transmittance minimum. Most states auto tint reg ic 35% transmittance.

 

It is a legitimate regulation, for sure.

I have seen tint on CMV windows as low as 3% transmittant.
