Going to the TN Academy this month...

Karen's Kitchen on Navy Rd (bout a mile from the hotel) is particularly great if you can spare $10 for a good meal. Me and a school bud went there for lunch... was just the 2 of us there, the owner and an enormous flatscreen with a movie playing.
Incredible burgers and delicious fries!

 

study the pretrip good before u go this will help u out a lot.

this is a good school u will have the skills needed to make it. if you test out. they will not hold your hand it is a very intence two weeks. not for the weak!

i walked to the wall mart its not that far 3-4 blocks the is a freds next door i got a lot at freds an what i could not find there i got at wal mart.

 

Thanx i've been studying it. What else should i be prepared for, is it really hard learning to shift

 

the only thing u can realy study for is the pre trip unless u have the use of a truck.
oh , if you dont know about maps you can cach up on that sat, sun 2 long days of class room
you need to know about all the sysmbols on the map.

the pre trip is inportin to get through when thay hand it out its relly intimanating. and you only have a day and a half to study before u test. but once u start reading it they repeat the same things over and over so its not that bad.

some one posted the hand out here if i could cut and past i would have put it here but i dont know how to do it on this tablet i have in the truck .
if u could get your hands on that u would have it made

 

u dont learn to shift in millington they only let u use 2 gear to do pull ups.

week 3 is shifting and driving u do that at your home turminal if you live neer millington you could do it there. but most do not.

dont think about shifting it just takes time they know that. and u have to make it to week 3 first. more than half do not make it to week 3. study the pretrip its stupid but you have to do it.

 

Iam also from the the chi. iam guessing your home terminal is in illinois, so do u go home daily through the 3rd week or how does that work do you only spent 2 weeks in tennesse training for the test . Thanx and good luck

 

I read on one of the other swift threads that swift sends you to concentra before going to the swift academy, is that false? because concentra chek you for sleep apnea and won't pass you on the physical until you get a study done and then get a cpap if needed. If swift does the physicals in house i might have a chance to get a med card for the year. unless the in house doctor is a stickler by the rules, then im screwed either way.

 

My home terminal is Menasha Wisconsin
The closest terminal to Chicago is Gary Indiana. But that terminal is so big it messed up I didn't want to have anything to do with it. I did my road training in Minneapolis
So hotel there is really nice. The 1 in Millington is absolute joke. But it goes fast and everybody's in the same situation so you can just deal with it. Also the road trainer in Minneapolis is very cool.
