I believe there are several threads on them. I've heard a great deal about this company. Equipment is top notch. however, they specialize on having you sit the entire day at the Richmond terminal and then giving you an overnight load into the Bronx. Also, they have you sign a paper that makes you responsible for paying for any damages to the equipment no matter who is at fault. I, personally would never do this.

I think it's a US Express owned company

I work for US Xpress and haven't heard anything on us owning Abilene Motor Express. I know we just share drop yards for a matter of convenience for both parties. Trust me, if US Xpress owned any part of Abilene it wouldn't be a great company or have good equipment! One of the first demands US Xpress demands of its underlings is that they immediately comply with using the red trucks and start looking like them just as Arnold and Total have done. If I wasn't on a home daily dedicated account (which still sucks because of the politics in the office and not being the favorite), I most definitely would not be driving for US Xpress. I hated them when I worked for Arnold, and they are no better on the US side.

Abilene is a Virginia company with terminals in wytheville and Richmond, there are many threads on them here. So far as I know they have nothing to do with us express.
-
They do have a little to do with each other as they use each others terminals as drop yards. I personally have been to the Richmond, VA Abilene Terminal more than a few times when I worked for Arnold to drop and pick up trailers for both Arnold and US Xpress. So they do have some sort of agreement on that aspect but companies do that everywhere. Celadon uses Knights terminal in Atlanta as a drop yard. And they use another company in Columbus, OH for a drop yard. I believe it is Robinson Transport on Alum Creek Rd they use. So companies do it everywhere all over the place. But as far as any kind of ownership over Abilene, I find that hard to believe.

This is an old story, guys. http://fleetowner.com/news/us_xpress_albilene_090106 and here http://www.ccjdigital.com/abilene-motor-express-completes-buyback-from-u-s-xpress/

USX stake in Abilene is 3%, and the only reason they haven't bought that portion back is they like the convience of using USX yards all over the country.
-
LoL dunno why. Most of their yards are pot hole dirt lots. -
It is my understanding that were connected w US Express in the past but he ownership is now solely in the hands of the founder(s) of the company. They are a privately owned company.runningman0661 Thanks this.
