Never ceases to amaze me what peers will say to one another. I made some hude mistakes getting into trucking. I went through $110,000 real quick. Am I stupid? Well I dont think so.
I was mislead by the owner of a small company. After I had purchased a truck and trailer (the trailer from him) the door was slammed in my face. Being from a small town where people take each other on their word. I made a trip with the guy, saw what id be hauling and money I'd be making. Boom its all over!
I've read over a friends lease and I'll have to say if you sign (that) lease your going to have a rough go of it!
This industry has HUGE problems:
1. Over-regulation
2. Predatory lease agreements
3. Inproper enforcement of laws and regs. (inconsistant, agressive, petty etc.)
4. Poor peer relations
5. Heavy taxes
6. PUBLIC RELATIONS (public views trucking about as bad as can be)
7. Financial reward vs. investment ratio
I could go on but the point is THIS IS TRIVIAL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!allycatt2 Thanks this. -

We still want to know how the OP was able to post after, "losing everything."

Maybe she went to the public library were you can use their computers. That is the PROBLEM with you few Prime drivers that are successful. You bash anyone that has anything negative to say about the company. YOU are mean and just down right nasty. Good image for Prime.

Sorry I am busy driving and do not get on the computer every day. No longer sitting at truck stops so much. Average gross income per mile did not always even pay the bills with prime let a lone put money in our pocket. One run they gave us they sent the information and told us that the money offered was just the fuel surcharge. That they were a new company and would send the rest of the information when they got it. Yea after we picked up the load and was on our way to delivering it. The money originally offered was 600 and some dollars. That turned out to be the total gross money which did not even pay the fuel for the trip that required the refer to run on continuous. Trip was from Brackton, Ma to the west side of Gary, In. Over 800 miles on just over $600.00. It was at that time that Stan Alman intercepted an email that we sent to Rob Lowe. At which time he informed us that we could not expect to make a profit off every load. Why not they do. The dispatcher gets a base salary and a commission off every load they book that is delivered. The leasing company is making money off the drivers every week. Three times what most other companies charge. They make a profit off the use of the pre-pass. And many other charges. So why should the driver not make a profit off every load that he delivers. He does the hardest part. And the Five weeks. Loss of income the few days we were home, then they sent us to CA to pick up a load going to Wa that had 7 stops over a course of 7 days. How much do you think that costs us. And that was a punishment load. Also our dispatcher dead headed us from Lakeland, FL to Bradenton, FL only to bobtail north again to wildwood to see our kids. Then bobtailed to Auburndale, FL to deadhead back down to Bradenton, FL to pick up the load going to CA. 330 some miles bobtailing and deadheading this came out of our pocket also. Alot of our deadhead did not get paid. Our contract stated that when we paid for pallets they would pay us back a specific amount which I do not remember however when we got paid they cheated us $2.00 per pallet from what the contract stated. When we left prime they charged us for two mattresses but when we leased the truck we only had one in the truck no mattress in the upper bunk. Like I said we have an ex IRS accountant going over all of our paystubs along with all the bill of ladings because I saved every one. They charged the shipper or receiver detention however many times we did not get any detention on the loads they charged it on. And if I was wherfe my paper work is I would be able to give more details.
