Older trucks, yes but the majority of new trucks are pretty dang quiet. Im just saying from my experience of delivering to about 10-20 stores a day in tight, crowded parking lots, turning the radio off and cracking the window is very helpful. Company policy actually. Thatd be difficult for a deaf person.

There are many issues that are on the medical card that can be of concern as well.
This has its merits and faults.Meltom Thanks this. -
I would bet there are more factory exhaust new trucks than straight piped.
Regardless i have my opinion, you have yours. No changing it. I dont like the idea of it. -
I'm more ok with a deaf driver than I am with one that cannot speak/read english.
CAXPT Thanks this. -
I am up in the air on the deaf issue. I have had to treat deaf people before.
We had a bus load of Spanish speaking persons on a bus that ran into a house. 40 some people in a small rural area influxed with non english speaking patients.
YES, I really believe the english is more important as well. -
"Wouldnt the lawyers pick him apart? Wouldnt that make the person even more of a liability of a company?" No as long as the driver, if deaf, has a waiver, or a hearing driver has a valid current medical card, the comany will not be liable, unless there is evidence that the company made the driver do something illegal. If company did everything legally, then its the driver's responsiblity to drive safe and pay attention. The lawyer will do what is right, check into the evidence and determine from there who is responsible, defend their client. Of course the lawyer on the opposite side will try to win the case, but its always the evidence that wins the case.
If someone is screaming or honking at you when your in parking lot or any where, it means you were not paying attention.
Everyone has their own opinion, I'm not going to force anyone to change their mind, but I will state facts, and my opinions until some one provides me a valid reason a deaf person cannot drive. If anyone can provide me a valid reason, I will walk in times square in NYC with a sign on me that says anything you wish the sign will say for a whole day, that's a promise i will make. -
