Question: Is U.S. Citizenship a requirement to enter a military base for a delivery?
We had a carrier turned away from delivering one of our loads because the driver was not a U.S. Citizen, does that sound right or am I missing a big part of the story?
Thoughts?

Depends on the base or facility.
CAXPT and CondoCruiser Thank this. -
Our base in Ridgecrest California, China Lake Weapons Station, you need to be a citizen to go on base to the free museum. I would assume the same goes for a delivery driver if a tourist gets the boots.
CAXPT Thanks this. -
China Lake has a lot of secret stuff on the base, so security is higher.CAXPT Thanks this.

My wife travels with me.
She has been denied at 2 places. Both top secret things in different parts of the base.
Been to others and no problem
She is not a U.S. citizen.
Like others have stated. Depends on the base.CAXPT Thanks this. -
I believe it's up to the base commander on the level of security on each base until Washington intervenes, eg. wartime. There's ones from a required escort to an open base with an empty guard shack. I was in during peacetime and things were pretty slack. Since post 911 security has tightened up a bunch.
CAXPT Thanks this. -
Thing is, how do you prove or disprove that you're a citizen ? I don't know of anybody that carries their birth certificate on them. So is it verbal confirmation or what ?
-
Most, if not all, states require citizenship to obtain a driver's license anymore, so showing your DL as ID would do it. (Or at least resident alien status, aka green card.)CondoCruiser Thanks this.

I carry mine all the time ,, although a passport would seem more useful .
All the ones I have been to they seem to be technologically capable of running the id ..If they feel so inclined and hopefully they would ..
Who knows what magical database's they may be plugged into.
I don't feel it's entirely unreasonable to deny access to any military installation/base to individuals of foreign origin . -
I think all military bases may be different? I know last Spring I had a delivery to a Naval base in WA-I had my D.L. S.S.card,TWIC card and I STILL was not allowed in-as I did not have my birth certificate along.
The best part? A Russian who worked on the base with the name of Yuri came to the gate and told me in a heavy Russian accent I would not be allowed in..
Go figure..
nicholas_jordan and Golabraun Thank this.
