Looks like you'd make similar $$$ to what you earned at Knight based on $12/40 hours, and, in light of your continuing mechanical problems with Marten, perhaps the same amount there. Like you said, you'd be home every day, spend less money, and have a better quality of life it would seem.

Smaggs, sorry to hear you ever began to consider hiring with this excruciatingly dishonest company. Thank you for posting your experiences. Doing so might help the next guy or gal to avoid making the same mistake. Even though it's now been two years since I left, when I read your initial posts from a few months ago, I knew exactly what I'd be seeing when I clicked the "Last" button to fast-forward to the present entries (that is, assuming you hadn't left yet yourself). It's too bad you evidently never discovered the "Truth About Marten Transport" Facebook page before making your hiring decision. You never would have hired with them if you had.

The first 10 or so pages had several drivers warning him about Marten. We have to learn to listen to good advice or reap the consequences.

There is no getting out of those loans. There are a few decent companies out there in which you can make money pay off the loans, and then get out of trucking.

This industry makes tons of money off these guys who come in with dollar sign shades on, and after a few months they have to take them off to see the pile of crap they got themselves into. So they leave and come back 6 months later and have to start back from square 1. So if you leave make sure you dont plan on coming back unless you have your refresher course money in your hand.

go home mang, my lady got a local job in another state and started a few days after i was fired from marten. if i wasnt fired i would still be on the road with my truck and apu braking down. sooo i moved out there and got a local lined up as well, and since we were apart and otr its nice to be back together living a normal life. and the love everyday is sweeet!!
longest time on hold for road service was over an hour. and jeff is a d!ck!
longest inspection bay was 5+ hrs no joke (ga)
state of the art repair shop in tucker ga? yea right took 3 days to fix problem, and took 2 days to brake once more. TA fixed in few hours and never broke again
everyone i meet were less then 6 months with company
    qualcomm gps sucks
miles were okay, but 3 days to get 800 miles is stupid
most employees and coworkers very nice
my fm was very good which made my time there happy
    etc
    overall marten was okay.

Trucker money hmmmmm, Please do us all a favor and get out of the industry. You made a, side-ways move, but expected better results?? The only thing you changed was the name and color on the truck despite people trying to warn you.

    You say:
but just a week ago you said:
so which is it?? Is it that or is it you?? Nothing wrong with wanting to be home every night and weekends off, I do it, but to work for an OTR company with those hopes is asinine!!

I just wanna help you out man and I have 7 people (my cousin and uncle) and 5 very close friends who work with Ryder making GREAT money with benefits, drive brand new equipment and home ALOT, best thing is they are hiring in your area https://www1.apply2jobs.com/RyderDr...ion=mExternal.showJob&RID=18620&CurrentPage=1

This is true. It's been well known here that Marten has gone down the proverbial crapper in the last few years. By others' testimonies, they seem to be no better these days than the Swifts and JB Hunts of the industry. Looking back in hindsight, what I think Smaggs should have done was stuck with Knight until his move to PA, and then look for locally based companies in the area to apply at.
