    Holiday Travel Season Underway

The Thanksgiving travel season began with a bang in Henrico County Wednesday morning when three people were injured in an accident on Interstate 295.
According to State Police, the accident happened around 2:30 a.m. when the driver of an SUV cut off a tractor trailer in the southbound lanes of I-295 near Highland Springs.
The accident sent two occupants of the SUV and the driver of the big rig to the hospital with minor injuries. The accident remains under investigation.
Experts are predicting more than one million Virginians will hit the road over the Thanksgiving weekend. State Police, together with other state agencies, are working to help reduce the number of traffic fatalities during the holiday season. According to State Police Spokesperson Sgt. Tom Cunningham, drivers can easily cut down on the risks they take.
"Don't drive aggressively, don't follow too closely," said Cunningham. "It's the number one reason for traffic fatalities in Virginia."
