I plan to drive in teams for 1 year but with a experienced driver. I heard team drivers get paid more than solo. I just dont know how well do Prime do team driving because most of their drivers run solo. I would hope they pair me up with a driver close to my home

 

Prime doesn't pair you up at all, except for PSD/TNT. After that you are own on finding a team driver. Team CAN earn more than solo, as they can move the truck 2x as many hours in a 24 hour period than a solo driver can. But remember the amount paid team is to the truck, then split between the drivers. But you get paid for all miles the truck runs.

 

how much do lease guys pay for fuel?

 

Depends on the chain. It's usually a "better of cost +, or cash -" deal. We have a fuel routing macro that you can use, but its more for the company side. I usually dump the pricing data for our in-network stops into a spread sheet, sort and edit to keep the in-route stops, then select the lowest discounted price less state tax rate.

Fuel surcharge is adjusted weekly. It's keyed to 6 mpg, and the average weekly fleet discounted fuel price. This week it's 44.5 cpm.

 

Actually, Your FM can pair you up if you ask. Mine has asked a couple of times if I wanted to go team. But the long and short of it is DT is correct, if you want a team driver that is close to your home, you have to find them.

 

If thats the case then I will go with them and drive solo. Their the only good company I know that will hire me out of my area with no CDL and experience.

 

questions........so now days you cannot idle your truck......what are you suppose to do if you running in south dakota in the middle of winter, blowing , -10degress, and you stop at the rest area to sleep?......also.,,,do the rest areas have hour limits now? i sort of doubt i will drive again, got 2 duis in my car in 1994......but i could drive if i wanted too.....too much hassle now, and my job opportunites would be limited,,,,

 

Prime puts APU's in all trucks now, great bunk heater and AC, also a power inverter,

 

Wait till you get out there and see for yourself, I like having my own bunk to sleep in and not sharing. I average 2500 to 3000 miles per week. If you are still a wannabe, take the advice you get here and use it to help form your own opinion.

 

I got a question, If you are a company driver at tax time do you guys have to pay in more or do you get a refund ? Thank you all for your help.
