I have worked for a couple of the other big one's . It's like I said b4
you get what you put in to it, and running an ilegal log at the end of
the day is your fualt and no one else's. I have said NO to loads at TMC
and am still driving for them. The thing is you have a good reason not
just that the isn't what you want. There is'nt a company out there that
dose'nt really want you to run every load they give as hard and fast as
the truck could go.

Just wondering about orientation for tmc,its been a while since school for me,I hold a cdl-a,but Im sure my shifting is not up to par, will I have a chance at training, orientation to get my skills up?
-
You will have plenty of opportunity to shift. Both in a truck with a trainer and on the simulator. Shifting is not a major concern, of course they want you to be the best possible, but are more concerned with your safe driving ability. If you are unsafe you are gone. If you need to polish your skills they will work with you. Remember, you will be going out with a trainer for six weeks and will get plenty of practice.
"...its been a while since school for me..."
How long as it been since your CDL school. All carriers have a time limit on this. I do not know exactly what TMC time limit is, I would suspect no more than a couple of months. Please call in to new driver recruiting and get the correct information. You may have to take a refresher course with most carrierers. -
hey,thx for your reply....its actually been about a year for me,TMC sent me a card telling me I was pre-hired and to contact them yesterday.
I know this doesnt mean Im hired, but they do know its been a while for me.
I had a refresher in April of this year, othe r than that....no driving
what do you think? -
I think you probably have to do another refresher, but I am not a recruiter and I don't know what their exact guidelines are. On Monday give recruiting a call. Rebecca is or was in new driver recruiting and I had good luck with her. Be persistent, they are busy and let some drivers fall through the cracks.
-
Heck with a refresher. That is one reason why I went with mav. I had been off the road awhile and I was not going to do a refresher.
-
What you should be keying in on, is I don't know for sure, contact recruiting.
-
Why is that? I did my own research before I chose a company. No way was I doing a refresher! -
What I am saying is I don't know, so don't take my word for it.
Another way to look at it is, that Maverick doesn't care if they put safe drivers in their trucks. Don't jump all over me because I'm not saying that, but it certainly could be interpreted that way by someone. -
I never jumped on you. You quoted me. Myself I would rather work for a company that cares more about how the load is secured rather than how the tarp job looks. I have had many of your drivers (happened last week at the loves in marion In) A tmc driver told me my tarp job looked better than his on a big coil. He asked me if it was a coil tarp or just a steel tarp. I told him a steel tarp. Where do you get the idea that mav has unsafe drivers? Better check your companies safety rating compared to ours first!
