Ok this might be a dumb question...
I bought one of those air gun kits that blow the dirt out of cab (or around the cab, depending in how you look at it lol), and looking up installation instructions online, it sounds like I have to actually cut the airline to install. That scares the crap outta me! My question is, will Swift be mad if I try to do it myself, or will the shop do it for me? I've never had a good experience with the shop, they always seem inconvenienced by me asking for DEF, but I don't want to botch the job either.
If I can do it myself, what's the best way to do so? There is some sort of plastic connector looking thing on the line that I thought I could unscre, but I decided to ask before messing with it.
Shop or do-it-myself?

Installation is very easy to do. Yes you can cut the line and put in a t-fitting with compression fittings on all 3 sides. Only requires an exacto or sharp knife and 2 adjustable wrenches to tighten the fittings. If your not confident doing this then I would have the shop do it or if trying it myself do it in the yard.

That truck is not your property to do with it what you please.I highly suggest asking Swift before you do anything.Swift not only will be mad but that could result in termination and you'll have to pay for a new airline.

That's what I was afraid of. It's a company truck, and that just seems like a major alteration. When I bought the kit, I thought it just screwed on, I had no idea I had to physically cut the line. I like the idea of doing it in the yard, but I think you're right, I should probably check with Swift first.pattyj Thanks this.

Didn't fully read the post. I thought he did ask someone at Swift if he could do this and was going to give it a shot. By all means, ask them first if you can install this yourself. IF they say go ahead then the process is not hard at all.

Companies ar funny that way.Even when you think its not that bad they somehow turn things into a major desaster.

Got that right and if they are trying to find a reason to get rid of a driver this sure is one way. "unauthorized repairs/modifications to the truck"

Buy a foot of 1/4" plastic air line....shouldn't cost you more than $0.40 or $0.50. DISCONNECT the air line from the seat (don't "cut" anything). Connect the air line from the truck to the T-connector supplied with the air gun kit. Connect a piece of that air line you just bought between the seat and the other side of the T-connector.
If you ever move out of that truck and into another, just remove the parts you installed and reconnect the factory air line to the seat. Since you never "cut" anything, it is easy enough to put everything back the way you found it....otherwise, either you'll have to splice the air line back together with a DOT-approved splice connector for around $10 or leave the air gun with the truck.A21CAV Thanks this. -

You can buy a vacum cleaner that plugs into your cigarette lighter at walmart or a trk stop.Swift may even reimburse you for it because its trk related. They're not the best but they get the job done. Also trk washes have a vac right there and they work real good
