Any company drivers getting midnight loads lately forcing you to drive all night?

    There is nothing inherently unsafe about driving at night. I understand there may be occasions where a driver might refuse a load citing "fatigue" as the reason. I would say that if it happened more than once or twice the company would be right to question how the driver is managing their time. Unless there is something in writing guaranteeing no night driving, I'm unsure how it would come as a surprise that you may have to do it.

    I believe the op is more concerned about why he has to wait till 2200 to pick up a load when he is mt at 6am and have a fresh 11 hours to drive. Probably because your company has lots of accounts with meat plants, and they pay more and is the bread and butter of your companies business. So instead of utilizing your hours with a cheap broker load. They make sure they have enough trucks for their main customers.

    My question is who do you work for pulling a reefer for .41cpm and u have less then a year driving and are they hiring:biggrin_25519:

    The shipping delay is paid by layover or detention pay. I'm an OO, so when I'm delayed past 2 hours waiting to get loaded, I begin to bug the broker after 1-3/4 hrs, asking for detention pay starting at 2 hrs. Usually, he calls the sales, who calls the dock, then they start loading me right away, assuming of course that they have the product in stock. If they don't have the product then I talk to the broker about layover pay. Company drivers get burned by this all the time, I know...

    I remember my trainer asking me if I'm sure I want to be a trucker, at the time I had no idea what he was talking about.
