they dont know it didnt take you the normal 15 minutes to unload...NO way i would log all of it...
-
remember tho they are gonna expect a receipt with an id # (ss , fed id etc)
RickG and NavigatorWife Thank this. -
I always unload and charge back the broker, dollar for dollar what the lumpers were gonna charge, only had one load that I was told upfront that the shipper REQUIRED the receipt from the Inhouse lumper to be reimbursed. Other than that one load, Walmart is the only other lumper that I would pay.. Can't beat $50 for unloading and breakdown.. I can't tell you how many thousands I made being my own lumper.
snowman01 Thanks this. -
I always counted on and extra $150/wk or more lumping my own load. Also good exercise to help keep the weight off.

C ombination D river L umper.........
seems you're qualified, go for it !!jbatmick and RedForeman Thank this. -
And right there is the problem with OEBRs. Just as easy to tell the truth on paper!

You said CHR pays the lumper service. So why would they pay twice? LUmper svc and then you?
Do you mean they pay you and then you pay the lumper service? In that case you pay whoever did the work.
Stealing? Why would this even be a question? As long as slaves continue to perform free work this industry will continue it's downward spiral. -
No I was not talking about double billing, one fee for one person to lump the load...If I did it, then I would be paid...if the lumper did it then He would be paid

If you're a company driver, then that could be considered stealing. The trucking company insures you for items like Workers Comp so you should be paid what you are contracted to. As far as o/o go, it is fair game. I've lumped many a loads in my time, and most of the time the brokers knew I was doing it. If the unloading is done via a contracted lumper service that is paid direct by the broker or shipper, then you won't have a choice. BTW, I never unloaded at a Walmart Grocery DC as the small amount wasn't worth my time. Now $80 for a straight pull at Wakefern with an electric jack, all day long!!! Or rather all night long!
