It seems like some people on here have me confused for bipolar. I just post things as they happen, with commentary! I ALWAYS wake up with success in mind. Even if yesterday equated standing in a waste treatment plant with no boots on.
Things are better now. I've been in touch with my FM and he's getting me over to Mondovi so we can go over everything else on my truck. Friday, I get to go home for the weekend. Looking forward to that.
I appreciate all the postings. I'm going to go snarf down some breakfast. Hanging here at the Indianapolis yard for a little bit. I'm going to swing by the Iowa 80 truck stop later today on my way over to West Branch, Iowa tonight. That should cheer me up. Lots of chrome to look at!opium eater Thanks this. -
Smaggs:"It seems like some people on here have me confused for bipolar"
Nahh, Smaggs we don't think your bipolar or anything like that....
You are really just conveying the truth of your personal trucking experience.
Some others on here are doing everything to basically turn you over to a darker side of trucking life.
What I mean is the type that does nothing but B!tch & gripe about everything & know that their experience is all that matter in a cb rambo way of life.
To be honest with you bringing home a steady $800-$1200 is decent money & is putting you way above the income of alot of other drivers now. Just think back about a year ago you would have been esstatic with a $1000 gross check from Knight or Squire. You seem to like your FM & he's is honestly trying to get you a better truck or atleast get you current one fixed enough so you won't be on the side of the road or at a drop lot waiting for the tow truck to show up to fix a canooter valve that should have been fixed 6 months ago.
If AT shows up on here saying that $800-$1200 isn't crap to be bringing home a week & that his bring home way more than that... Well I call B.S. on that.
Yes, all OTR would love to be showing off more cash at the end of he week.
But in all likelyhood you are at the tops or pretty close to it right now.
So, if you need more cash than what you're getting right now.
I would look for the hazmat/explosive loads. or find that sweet job that we all dream of. -
I do get to do Hazmat with Marten, but not all the time. I know... it's reefer. I feel like my pay is good for a company driver, but I'm just seeking to maximize my income... much like anyone else with a good head on would do.
Speaking of radio rambo behavior... other drivers wonder why I keep my RF gain all the way down and my Squelch most of the way up. HA! -
If not bi polar. Then melodramatic. You should write books. I see you have all the characteristics of a life long trucker. Wish i knew a mcdonalds who paid between 800 a week or even 400. If i made between 800 to 1200 a week after my 1st year in trucking without having to fudge the log book. I'd be on cloud 9. Even now with over 14 years and on elogs. That is nothing to complain about. You youngsters have alot to learn about contentment. Everything is not going to go your way. Chill and enjoy the good times, because you will have some dark valley's ahead. I dont think i took home 1200 in the month I was with Marten. You way ahead of the pack jack.
Smaggs Thanks this. -
Smaggs, i highly suggest you read To tell the truth about marten , over at facebook.
90 former marten drivers, telling their horror stories, as bad as you, some even worse.
There are drivers, who worked there from 1 day to 28 years. Yes one memeber was an owner op when Rodger and his wife were in charge.
Granted Marten was once one of the Best to driver for, but in the last 4 years, they are started to hit bottom.
I never knew Rodger, but the thing i heard about him, he would not tolerate his trucks trucks sitting broke down for hours, waiting for his rd service dept. to get you an 'ok' to get fixed.
I was there almost 8 years.. Years 1 thru 6 were great, was able to buy a home, a new pickup, keep up on all my bills, even pay a couple off. Yes i was once a Cheerleader for them, but how quickly things got bad.
Then the knight jerks came in, cut miles, sat drivers mulitpal weekends in a row, started taking long loads off the road, putting them on the rail, TOOK AWAY THE MISSED HOME TIME PAY. Started to wait for hours to get the ok to go to a shop to get repaired.
I have read how excited you were to get hired there, and now, sadly things are starting to turn the wrong way.
I do wish you the best , in what you decide. I hate seeing anyone fail, at something they want to suceed at. -
I'm glad I'm here. I definitely stepped up the ladder. Some say I'm on par with knight, but I have paystubs that prove I'm better here, until I find better.
I may have broken down a few times, but I've never had to pull my FM's arm to get my money. On the flip side, I never take liberties that are not mine to take.
When I worked at knight, I sweated my bills. With marten, I'm sweating the extra money and I knock out all my basic monthly expenses with a single week's pay. I'm no cheerleader, but I don't think marten is horrible. Just not like they used to be. I wasn't aware of all the company changes until after I got the job. If I didn't have. Good FM, I wouldn't have lasted this long. However, when he is out, it shows. -
Smaggs u are famous. Just seen your grocery store rant on facebook. The truth about marten transport page.

Om the "Radio Rambo"(RR), I have the Gain up & the squelch pulled up too.
About the only time I do listen to the squalk Box is when I her alot of chatter in the back ground or other...
Like a wreck & such. Otherwise I listen to my audiobooks & go on my merry way.
I do holler out bear sitings, but rarely do I have a comeback from the big carries..
Hell even from the company I drive for. It seems either most can't afford a radio, or don't have one period.
What I love is when all of the RR's are jacking up the box when there is a 4-5 mile back up & the amber signs were up for the last 15 miles stating road work or crash @ the 353mm.
And the ask "Hey East Bound what's the hold up over here?"
I just drop my head & want to say put down that #### phone from your ear,
buy a BT & watch the #### road you idiot!
Or if you were actually paing attention you would have really known what lane to be in or what the back up was for...
