BTW if hes looking for a place to park then stay at Barstow as he will find parking there. Go into town early and drop and hopefully get to pickup again otherwise thats a heckuva town to get in and out of.

The scales on the 15 in the cajon pass close up shop in early evening, then open again by 6 or 7am. So just cruise through there around 10 pm - 4am.

HE IS GOING to get popped max allowed is 350 pounds on any axle. Believe me i just got a ticket last tuesday overweigh on tandems load shift situation.

there is no max weight.
it's 34k PERIOD. our company got a ticket for rolling in with a drop axle on the truck. they bought 3 FL's and added drops specifically for that purpose of hauling tankers to cali. only way to get 80 k was to add a drop for the drives putting them at 34.5k
i've rolled into cali a few times with a 48 spred flat. current company -
This.^^ I have never seen the southbound Cajon scale open at night. And rarely on weekends. But if he is that worried about it 58 to 14 out of Mojave is a detour.

California scales are a bunch of thieving thugs and are just out there for fund raising has nothing to do with safety. When in doubt keep your tandems all the way to the front.

that'll work out rolling through heavySHC Thanks this.

I definently agree with this route, I ran LA every week for awhile and we would come in past Cahoun scales just under the wire every time, seems they would open around 6am. Sometimes he was just turning on the lights inside when we would go by.....I sure wouldn't want to get caught illegal on anything down there....
