Richmond area. Remember recruiter is just a fancy word for salesman. He gets hung at plants waiting on loads and stuck at the house on Monday's waiting on a work assignment.

There are plenty of miles to be had hauling glass...but you gotta work for them.
Hauling glass isn't really all that different than hauling steel...the biggest headache with both is the shippers (waiting to get loaded or unloaded).
The only real difference is the glass will break if not properly secured (not too tight, not too loose, padding/v-board where needed, stop blocks properly placed and padded, braces built when hauling long glass on step decks, etc.)
Oh...and knowing how to stack different sizes of stoces so all are, in fact, secured...
When properly secured...you have to try pretty hard to break the glass...about the only thing you have to worry about is the trailer twisting if you "yank" it while in a sharp turn, that WILL break it.
I hauled a lot of glass...and was somehow lucky enough to never break a single piece, but its an accepted fact (whether Maverick accepts it or not) that if you haul glass long enough...you're gonna break some.sewerman Thanks this. -

Well I had a perfect week this week. Minus I had to put a starter on the truck Monday. Delivered in Chicago Monday morning. Went to Gary loading coils for Paris Texas. Stop at shop in Gary get starter put on. Delivered in Paris Wednesday morning then went down to Shreveport Louisiana and loaded up for Louisville. Delivered Louisville Thursday afternoon then went to Jeffersonville Indiana and loaded Friday for Michigan city Indiana for Monday. It's just 10 miles from the house to my delivery.
Have a great weekend, drive safe and enjoy the ride. -

Then there is that...so I guess it is ok that we share our loads...lol -
From Steel Tech I went over to Moncure and picked up a load of panels and took them up to Elkhart Indiana. From there I got a load out of Portage going back to NC, maxton this time, so I spent the night at the yard.
Delivered in Maxton and got a load to pick up back in Moncure for a load going through the house up to archbold....sweet! Wrong! On the way it got cancelled but there was no place before Sanford to stop so I drove the rest of the way to Moncure.
I called my fleet Manager and asked what was going on. He said that because the load did not load until tomorrow at 1300 they probably pulled me off it. I told him that my wo said up until 1800 today.
He said, oh well it is cancelled.
So I waited and started to cook dinner and I got a new wo picking up in Newberry SC 170 in the other direction.
So I made it to pageland SC with about 11 minutes to spare. I pulled into the parking lot and it had 2 foot deep ruts by about 2.5 at the top. If I was loaded, I would have got stuck.
But I worked my way around it and was able to park.
Made it to Newberry and headed for the house. Made it to Frazers Bottom and spent the night.
Made it home by 0830 and had 4 hrs left on my 70.
Now have to decide to drive as far as I can tomorrow and do a recap, or do a restart and leave at 0330 on Monday Morning.
Hope you all have a great weekend! -
