Me?? I'm a lease-op, and I'm responsible for my own routing. Strictly speaking, on the company side routing is only mac27 and mac19, with mac15 only for hazmat routing. Some FMs adhere to the company line, some are more permissive. The agreement I had with my company-side FM was I'd check with him first on anything over 20 or so miles out of route. It's his butt too if you screw the pooch. The "only a recommendation" part are weasel words to keep Prime out of trouble with the IRS over issues with independent contractors.

It's given me a route with a 12'11" bridge, likes to run fuel down to fumes on long routes, has added 100 miles to a route for fuel stops, and then there are goat trails. Ugh. It loves the John Kilpatrick Turnpike for some strange reason, might be ok with pikepass, waste without.
I just go the route I want to go and ask it later.
I think it's just routing software spew and can change a lot depending on what side of a city you are departing from. If you start on the route you want first it will usually agree with you.
I'm in SLCda1 Thanks this. -
Actually, it has nothing to do with that. You're responsible for checking any routing assignment from any of the software macros against the RMCA. The verbage is put into all of the routing instructions as one of the ways to prevent the IRS and state revenue agencies from pushing the claim that Prime independent contractors are actually employees - AND - that Prime owes literally millions of dollars in witholding tax. Just the same as every other carrier that uses independent contractors. They've been going after FED-X for years on this, and they just recently changed their policies to require all independents be incorporated companies with more than one truck.
Guys... check with your FMs. Company drivers are required by policy to follow macro27 routing to the letter - whether your FM requires it or not. Doesn't mean I always did...
Why do you think that getting some fuel away from the assigned fuel stops is such a pain in the a?skellr Thanks this. -
Tonight, I am a yard jockey at a cardboard box plant that has run out of empty trailers, and is loading out loads for Monday deliveries all less than 500 miles away. So they aren't expecting any empties to come in.
In other words, tonight I'm the yard jockey at a cardboard box plant that isn't going to be doing much. -
Actual words from my FM when I was running company "I don't care if you take the #### truck to Africa if you deliver on time."
This was before they required company trucks to have company FM's, and my FM was a guy with all lease trucks and 3 company.MikeyB. Thanks this.
