I work for roehl and can't say anything bad about prime as I have no experience with them.
I enjoy working here but it may not be for everyone. You can do a lot of research but every company Is going to fit everyone's needs differently. While roehl is good for me, it may not be for someone else.

I don't envy anyone starting out and looking for a company to start with..I have noticed here on the forum many complaints about companies including those listed by the O.P... And accordingly- "policemen" for these companies on the forum..
Can ALL the "complainers" be not cut out for trucking? Can ALL the "complainers" be wrong and just have no work ethic and/or common sense? Hell I don't know. I have often wondered though if the cheerleaders/policemen get a kick-back or at least an "atta boy" from their respective companies or get a recruiting bonus?
On a selfish note-I'm with a kick-### company and am doing quite well..Thank you. (And glad) I don't have to find my way through the,can I say,Trucking Wilderness?
For the O.P. all I can suggest is research and research some more, talk to people on BOTH sides of any potential employer-and make up your mind you are going to see it through for at LEAST a year. You will have to take a chance eventually. Have you ever heard 'Only fools rush in'? Take those words X100 in Trucking.Elchery Thanks this. -
Also take into account your location and companies around you. Gotta have a plan for where you are to leave the truck when you come home. Example if you live on the east it might not be smart to go work for Gordon Trucking or Jim Palmer (west coast mainly I believe, could be wrong). People might have great opinions here about companies that may or may not work for your situation. Good luck to you.

Truck companies are like women... what may appeal to you others may find offensive, and what others deem unacceptable, you may actually like.
Do your research and base your opinions on your own research. -
They all have their good points and bad points. Overall you will always be better off with a smaller company and your chances or success will be much higher if you stay away from the mega-carriers. Every driver has their own individual wants and needs and this is the way you should ultimately base your decision on choosing a company. Keep in mind that more drivers complain than complement and you will always find more bad info then good info on a particular company. Also a lot of drivers like to keep their companies a secret when they feel they are at a really good company!
Companies that spend millions of dollars on advertising are the ones you hear about more and are the ones that go through more drivers. Sometimes you have to do a lot more research to find the good ones...Elchery Thanks this.
