i have a 2ws 550 that running about 625hp and pushing close to 40lbs of boost, but blew stock turbo up. Been talking michigan turbo and went to order a borg warner 171702, because we have one of those on another truck with the same engine and horsepower. Michigan turbo says the 171702 is actually a Detriot series 60 turbo and said will work but wants to sell me a cat dominator. There is a significant price differance, I just wanted to know what route would be the best for my engine. I have nothing to compair it to cause the other truck with that 171702 is a brand new glider kit and will be a few more weeks before its on the road
turbo upgrade??? blew stock one up

Contact Turbo Exchange in Concord, NC and talk to Andre @ 1-800-377-6605 or their website: http://www.tepturbos.com/
They can even rebuild your turbo or sale you PDI stage 1 or PP turbo equal for alot less money. Just tell Andre what you want and they can do it for you weather you need HP or Fuel Mileage or both.
Tell them Dice sent you.puncher and billy39379 Thank this. -
Right on Dice and their nice folks to deal with. That 171702 is a Detroit genset turbo rated up to 500 HP. Your stock turbo I think should cross to a B/W 177148 which is rated to 550HP but will handle more and is a great turbo. Andre can explain it all, as can Mr. Haney, but if you know for sure which turbo you need or want you can check with Truck Pro, they may be a little cheaper but won't offer the service of Turbo Exchange.Last edited: Sep 8, 2012

What did you do to gain 75hp on a 2ws 550.Check notifications at top for private message.

If you install a 171702 you'll blow that one up too. The compressor wheel and cover are much smaller and you will over speed the turbo significantly. You will also have to modify the air piping both from the air cleaner and the aftercooler to get it to fit where your CAT turbo is.billy39379 Thanks this.
