Overweight at the State Scales Question

one night that same back road the local pulled me over

i says going to see my gf
he says you know it's all blacks on this road
i asked if he was prejudice

needsless to say i went back to the scale grossing out almost 95000 wrote a check they were happy and i went on to ny
this was 1980 today i suppose i would be front page news and in jail

 

80k is gross.

you won't be hauling 52k loads unless your in a daycab. flatbeds are the lightest trailers and can haul around 48k. pending on the tractor.
all other trailers are heavier which means you'll be hauling loads less then 45k.

that's strictly speaking semi with van or tank or flat.

Funny, My box has 63,300 lbs in it... but I do have 8 axles.... lol

 

What scales? I like the back roads personally. FYI I always attempt to run legal. I have had one over weight ticket because I trusted the dispatcher. Wifie for an over weight ticket with less than 30k in a van. 30k was in 8' of the nose of the preloaded trailer. Our old rule was you can screw up less than 30k. Wrong! Company paid both of our over weight tickets.

 

And if you pass up an open scale that says to exit and you don't they may just come after you. Saw a truck who got squeezed where he couldn't get back into right lane to exit and the dot came after him. We stopped and told officer what had happened which would have probably gotten him out of it, but he didn't have his logs done at all for how long...??? Got him for that.

 

If I am deemed overweight 300 miles away from the scales I am going right at the scalehouse.. as I will burn about 50 gallons of diesel before I get there.. figure diesel weighs 8 lbs a gallon... I am now legal on my gross...

 

When I haul milk from time to time.. I am normally running between 48k and 52k in the tank.. Having said that the heavier the milk the better less slosh.. I have also stopped hauling it for the most part.

 

ive been as much as 500 pounds over a few times no ticket but when i was 1000 pounds over i paid 160$... and scale tickets go by weight so 100 pounds they wont care

 

Be careful . Some states will keep you there until you're legal -even if it means putting part of the load on another truck .
