I just have a question about Weigh Stations in Kentucky and few other states, Question is that when going through bypass lane they speed limit posted 10 miles and you have to go through the yellow scanners what are these scanners for what are they looking for weight or cargo in the trailer. Just curiosity why they have those yellow scanners there.

just wanted you to know those yellow things are xray machines they detect any odd shaped cargo in truck and trlr and if you ddnt already know I65 scales have infared scanners to detect heat from your breaks ond scanners to detect low tire pressure i found these out the hard way

I don't think they are X Ray machines ( they actually use Gamma Rays to scan trucks for contents) They detect radioactive material. If you truck is to be scanned it will be parked and you will be sent to a safe area. The gamma ray machine is truck mounted and will drive along side your truck to scan it.

Port huron MI customs will not let you park while the scan they truck, you must drive through it, they say they don't turn it on until its behind the driver, but who really knows, I am sure i feel weird afterwards.
