We made a big detour from Utah. We had a load in Chicago then went to kentucky back to Chicago to drop the reefer trailer off but was dispatched to another load so we came to Gary Indiana to the terminal. We have two loads in Oklahoma then we will head to Arizona from there. I'm really feeling comfortable driving mostly everywhere now, just taking it slow and learning all I can since my time with my mentor is winding down. Looking forward to being solo in my own truck!!
Sidenote* there is so so so much construction out here! In the weirdest spots too! Lol. Everyone be safe!!
New soon to be swift trainee!

Hey new Trucker 48... It's me again. I just submitted my application to Swift. I said I would get back to you and update you. Last time we chated I had said I was looking to getting on Swift first couple weeks of Sept. So here I am. I already spoke to a recruiter and I signed all my releases for my background and license check. I will let you know how it goes. Recruiter said I might be ready to go into the next Monday class. I will keep you posted.... Hope the tooth ache is gone and you are doing better.
Newtrucker48 Thanks this. -
That's great!! Thanks for getting back to me commander. Please do keep me posted. Yes the tooth ache is gone thankfully
been really driving lately trying to get all my hours out of the way so I can go solo on the 18th through the end of the month. I wish you luck!! Please feel free to let me know anything you like. When I'm solo I'll be on more often. Have a great night/day

@vision Yes!! Can't wait! I'm counting down the days until I'm on my own. Every time we fuel I look at all the other drivers in the truck stop like I can't wait to sit and rest and have my own truck to myself. I mean I love my mentor to death but having my own space is bliss right now! I'm in Arizona right now. Good to hear from you again vision! You stay safe as well.
VisionLogistics and CAXPT Thank this. -
My mentor just got his new truck, I have 6 more days basically and if I run 10 hours a day I'll be done by next Friday! I'm doing a 34 hour restart, had 25 minutes left on my 70 when we got here.

way to go NewTrucker.. I read every single one of your threads and have been following you over the last month and a half. ... I am glad to see that you stuck with it.... Kick ###...!!!
Newtrucker48 Thanks this. -
Thanks, I'm glad that I took the leap from my factory job to go to school and learn to drive trucks. I really am happy with it so far. It's so worth it for me. I do see that some of this is about timing and who you're paired with your first 6 weeks but after that its all about your attitude and your drive. Being safe and mindful is also important.
This isn't the worst career choice, not for me anyway. I think I'm built for this lifestyle. Even more so when I have my own space and truck!I just met some great truck drivers at the terminal as well. It, for me, feels like a brother and sisterhood. It's a great feeling. It's all what you make it 99 out of 100 times in most cases.
