Good point. Because on iTunes it says 1.47 - 2.1 Gb depending on of their various versions there, it is strange that they don't list a similar size for the truck. But ya, I would imagine that you should budget for at least 2 Gigs for all of North America maps. Fortunately a 16 gig class 10 card is like 15 bucks.

So is Co-pilot and PC Miler the same software? If I buy PC version will I get android version as well?

I have a laptop but it's getting old and cranky (blue screens now and then). I also have a new Droid Razor, problem here is I don't see as well as I use to, getting old sucks! I also drive a company truck so mods are limited.

Laptop would require a mount, $250, software $150. External GPS reciever (I think $20) Plus a way of powering laptop. May even have to replace laptop soon.
    Droid cheapest $150, mount $30.
Another option is a tablet, say 7" Nexus, $200, plus software, $150, plus mount $40.

Any other ideas or thoughts on above?

i have pcmiler. 4inch screen. i don't see a need for anything bigger. and i defenitely don't want the cab lit up at night.

it works very well. but i wouldn't call it perfect. but then, no gps is perfect. but i've been way happier with pcmiler then the first truck unit i tried.

i actually started with the copilot software on my sprint droid phone before buying the pcmiler. so yeah, i have been very happy with gps for the last 18 months.

as for the program. it's a downloadable map. the united states is 1.2 gigs. the north american is 1.7 gigs. includes canada. if your running the older android 2.3 froyo version. you can move the app to sd card. the new androids took the sd card feature out. so the program resides in the internal memory. don't ask me why google took that feature out. i'm still trying to figure out a way to get it back on sd card.

since the program is all downloaded to your device. there's no interent required. your device just needs to have gps module.

ALSO, i wouldn't download the north america version. i'm still testing to find out why. but i think if you download the north american. it's causing me not to have voice. and it's causing my aunts acer tablet to not function at all.
i'm hoping the glitches are part of the canada portions of the maps. but i'm still testing.

just to be on the safe side though. download the united states only.

any feedback would be greatly appreciated. it's a great program, but if the glitches can't be figured out. i'l betting it'll soon be a not so used program anymore.

i don't know what point and time the glitches started as i quit using the phone when i bought the unit. but it be nice if they can be figured out.

    oh yeah,

my aunt's acer tablet only had one option. and it was free.

i just upgraded my phone from 2.3 to 4.0 operating system. and again. there was only one option in the market. and it was free. it's been 3 weeks since i upgraded to 4.0 so things may have changed.

and when i open the app. it says WELCOME TO COPILOT TRUCK. but that could be becuase my registration is tied into the truck version. when it signs on and acquires the licenses.

I just want to point out on the ipad. you have to have an external bluetooth gps sensor for the copilot to work... and the current copilot app that is available is by far the best!

I use a garmin 465t. It works great. I have the traffic update cable and Phantom Alert. I also have a laptop with CoPilot 8. I like it also. I have a GPS receiver that plugs into the laptop using a USB port. I use Eclipse log as my log book. I carry a scanner/printer in the cab.

The only problem is that I always run to the same three places and I have absolutely no need for navigational help. But I like all the pretty colors.
