Well I bough a truck about 3 mos ago to haul intermodal in Memphis TN. U know home every night and all that. well its not worked out that good. I can get home ,but to make a good check U really have to stay out most nights and weekends. So much for the promised land. Anyway I loved my old Flatbed job mostly hauling steel out of Blytheville AR then back loading as close to as I could get to Blytheville then doing it again. The rates in that area are great and i could get through the house 2 times a week with at least 1 day off every week end sometimes more, and could make 900 to 1200 hundred as a company driver. The problem I'm having is the company I did this with only has 3 trucks and isn't willing to let me lease on. Anyone know who I could lease on with that is good and I could do sort of the same type sit-up. or should i just shoot my self for buying a truck and quiting a great job?:biggrin_2553:

Do you have your own authority?

There are good opportunities for you being where you are in AR/TN. I would look Mercer, Landstar, and CRST Malone. You could turn what you think as a loss into a revenue machine if you find the right co to lease onto. Hope suggestions help you out.

I don't have my authority. I'm a little nerves about getting it. I'm pretty new to the o/o side of things, feel I have alot to learn before I take take that step.

Check out Mercer. They will let you do your own thing and take care of all the red tape-paperwork and such. They will let you run the runs you choose when and where..

I think u'er right but things have went so bad. I'm working 7 days a week just to maintain the money I put back and make a living and I really can't afford to make another mistake. I know CRST promises the world. I have read good and bad about them. but like the fact u can rent a trailer and they do have a agent right in that area.Landstar and mercers they sound good by the post I've read but LS u need HAZ does anyone know if ether of them lease trailers. I have the money to buy one but hate to dig that deep into my savings.

I was with mercer for a while I believe they are about as good of an outfit as a man could find. No gimmicks straight up people no messing with your money. They will help you prosper or go broke which ever you choose. The other good thing about them is about 80 % of the fleet will not want to haul steel so that much less competition for you
