First question you need to ask yourself is what type of trucking do you want to do? Then go find those companys in your area that do that, and ask them if you go to xyz truck driving school will they hire you from there. I would go that route before I went thru a bfi company school where you have to stay for a year making slave wages.

yea they have classroom and in truck experience... it says there is 124 hours of classroom time, 128 hours on the driving range, and 48 hours on the road time. It does seem like a pretty good place, i see there trucks all the time with students in them.... and my local community college doesn't have a cdl course that I am aware of, but i will look into that as well

The real useful information would be to do a search for past threads that have asked the same question hundreds of times .

Go to the company school, buy from the company store, marry a company girl, and when you die go to company hello.

There is never a reason to be indebted to an employer.

Acccording to BFI's CDL mills don't teach you to drive. That's why you need to spend 4 to 6 weeks with a trainer. That's if they don't put you on the bus for failing the road test .

it seems like i would be much better off just paying myself and going to a private school... i might even be able to get some financial aid

The first thing you need to understand is that company sponsored school isn't free. You still pay for it. They are simply loaning you the money and deducting it from your already tiny paycheck over the course of a year. Going with a private school is always a better deal. Always.
