hi guys,
I'm getting a contract from a shipper (Nursery) on weekly basis to haul plants, in dry van. I have 53 dry van with logistics post, air ride.
The shipper told me i need a van with build wooden deck ?
What does that really mean or what does it require to convert regular dry van to haul plants.
Thanks

Yes mine does have a wood floor, and logistics post i can use straps , but i didn't get the part why wooden deck , maybe a second deck .?i'm check with them again

Not experienced in this but from what I've seen plants are on metal rolling shelves / racks. They may want to nail 2x4's into the floor as blocks to stop them from rolling around? Just my thoughts.

Not all plants are 9' tall, right ? You will be double stacking a lot of them inside the trailer, so need to be able to use plywood sheeting as shelving.

I have hauled them before. it was just a wood floor so they could lock the racks in. Like someone else said. Now with a contract like that they may want more. why not ask them what they want ?

Worked in a Lowes in receiving for a short time, the plants that were shipped in typically were on 8' rolling racks secured w/ load locks. If they were individual plants they were normally just stacked on pallets on the floor, shored w/ 2x4's. Probably why they want you to have a wood deck.

My company hauls plants in reefer trailers all the time (in season). Don't run reefer of course. Just use load locks. Ask the shipper why they want wood floors?
