If you are doing ok as a company driver right now why u want headches, and with fuel prices above $4.00,my opinion.

I made the switch from company to O/O in July of this year. Signed on with BigBadBill and Farm2Fleet.
All of my loads are pretty much coming from the load boards and I am starting to have repeat business with the same brokers. Especially when they find I am at home with the truck.
I am more relaxed than ever, making enough to cover expenses and am now home for some well deserved rest and time with my daughter and wife until Oct 1.
The truck is in the shop getting a repair done to it and also adding produce vents to the dry van.
With taters moving at the current rates, it's a good move to make. -
Hey MNdriver thank you for taking the time and respond with such an encouraging words,
Can u give me an id what is the rate today for a dry van loads? -
First, I retired in 2009. Now, I once worked for Greatwide. At that time they would give you $1000.00 toward a down payment for any kind of sleeper unit you desired. Most of the drivers bought used tractors that were still in warranty. All drivers in the division I was in, reefers, made good money and driver turnover was next to nothing. They set up the loads for you, so you always get paid. Using a load board is a gamble. That's my opinion and experience with being an 0/0. driveforgreatwide dot com. Best wishes in your endeavor as an 0/0.

Back in July, I was seeing a LOT of cheap offers. I stuck to my guns though and only took one cheap load and that was still over $1.50 per mile. I'd have to pull the sheets for specifics. I remember it was out of the Houston market and during my second week.
This week I averaged $2.10 all miles. My goal is $13,000 revenue per month and as few miles as possible. I had 7300 miles since August 30. I know that because the shop is doing the 7500 mile service while they are doing an exhaust manifold job.
IFTA report is showing 6.7 mpg for me for 3Rd quarter. I expect to see it drop a little from this last trip out.
Heavy loads, 30-40 mph headwinds and running mountains will do that to you though.
I am finishing installing some produce vents on the trailer as I keep finding vented loads that pay good rates enough to justify the $400 expense.
