I am in the safety dept at Western. I do the orientation up in Nazareth. We definitely are trying to preach csa and for the driver to do the job legal, But time and again it does fall back on the driver. I have only been off the road full time for 2 months, coming into safety has opened my eyes more then ever. It is the driver running scales not keeping their logs current not doing their pre and post trips properly speeding not caring about anyone but themselves that is giving Western a worse name. Western is a starter and second chance company. One of the main reasons they want you to keep your score down is so you can go anywhere you want to work. Good luck and stay safe. Maybe I will see you out there running that 62mph truck down the road. Yes I still go out and run from time to time..

This question is to everyone. Can someone tell me the pay for Flatbed division. I have a little over 2yrs of OTR exp. but I haven't drove tractor for the last 3yrs. I will really like to know. My fiancee and I are doing alot of planning to move to Vegas. I currently live in Southern California. Just trying to get some feed back about the exp from other drivers that drive for the company. I am attending Orientation in Nashville at the end of the month. Any feed back. Thank You

Lol@ giving the cops some riding lessons.

On topic: OP, you have a great story, and I hope you take advantage of your opportunity. Best of luck man. I too will be going the same route as you, but my felony is 7 years old. I live in Nashville, so I guess that works out.

$.34 cents a mile plus a $500.sign on bonus. The orientation process sucks. It's about two to three weeks of which you won't get paid !!! Oh, and you'll be dragging your belongings around with you for all that time.

    TnVols Trucking Thanks this.

Concerning Western Express. Years ago, I worked for a Wayne Wise company, ExpressCo. (flat bed). I really liked the company & also they gave a few ex-cons a second chance. The ones I knew were good employees and seemed to appreciate the second chance Wayne Wise gave them. The only reason I left was the company filed bankruptsy and closed. I had the utmost respect for Mr. Wise & Charles Carr. If Western Express is anything like the old ExpressCo, I recommend them. I am sorry to hear Mr. Wayne Wise passed away.
