I think I'm sunk...and the ship hasn't even set sail!

I've been doing this trucking thing on and off for a couple of years now. I took a little break after coming back from otr, and about eight months ago I signed a contract to drive a straight truck and work local. I kept my CDL. This new job didn't require havin one (THE TRUCK I DRIVE IS CLASS C), but havin one definately helped me get my foot in the door. I'm less than one month to the end of my contract. Worked hard and smart, never missed a day, got my experience etc etc. I accepted a job with FFE and I'm supposed to ship out in two weeks...duh dun dun, here's where it all goes to ####; While driving my straight truck back to yard, I crossed what appeared to be a yellow light. Everyone knows the risk hydroplaning and losing you load, so I won't attempt to justify why I didn't slam on my brakes beyond that. Light turns red in split second... click, click, click.... got three nice candids of my scruffy mug... lookin like a deer in the headlights too. There's no question about it, they got me.

Now, having not used my CDL in over a year, I wasn't aware of how this ticket might affect me. I was thinkin well hell i'll probably have to pay out the tooter but atleast i can go to school and get the #### thing hidden off my record. Man was I wrong. I've been reading that not only will it stay on my record but it's going to equal like three friggen points. The limit at FFE is three I believe, which would mean I'm done before I've even started??

Makes me think losing the load would have been alot cheaper, and less of a headache too!

Prior to this little incident my driving record was spotless. I think I had a seatbelt violation or two in my personal vehicle, but no moving violations or any of the big stuff going back years now. I was, in essence, a "good driver." Well, on paper anywho...

I really don't want to hang up my wheels just yet. I was pretty excited about going back OTR and really looking forward to the future. If anyone here has a deeper knowledge on CDL laws and the point count in California I'd really appeciate the input...

Hire an attorney and fight it. The cost will be worth it.

I actually got in touch with a firm that wants 300 but they're saying it'll be a tough one to beat because I have a CDL but got the camera ticket in a Class C vehicle. I guess thats what I'm trying to figure out. How difficult is this really going to be based on the unique circumstances.

No, it's actually registered to penske leasing who in turn leases it to my company. I share the truck with a couple of other drivers.

I don't know about CA but the redlight cameras in/around Memphis TN where I live send you a bill for $50.00 for running a redlight but state that it in not a moving violation and no points will be assessed.

Is this from the state or is it some company that sets them up FOR the state? Reason being plain and simple you have the right to plead not guilty and face your accuser! Kinda hard to do so when the accuser is in another state looking at a computer pic trying to decide who ran the light and who didn't. Also in some states because there is no arresting officer to write a real ticket it dosen't show up on your license at all. You need to check with them to start AND plead NOT GUILTY!

Don't think he is too worried about his MVR not a biggie
However since he holds a CDL it will effect that little thing called CSA

Its my understanding that without an inspection being done no CSA points will be assessed either
