OK...I was diagnosed with moderate sleep apnea several years ago. Tried the machine and just didn't like the hassle. Went to a dentist who specializes in the disorder and was fitted with a very customized mouthpiece I wear when sleeping. (Juts the bottom jaw forward to keep the airway open.) Have never been retested. Sounds like i might as well schedule a test at my local sleep clinic at get some documentation before i go forward with accepting a preHire from anybody if this question is going to be asked?
Looks like Schneider is the one

I would recommend the same, get it done and out of the way now. Schneider seems to have a really good program, that supports those with Sleep Apnea
-
What kind of support do they provide? Will they help pay for the ongoing machine rental? I know it's expensive. But, my mouthpiece is also expensive and because I apparently grind my teeth real bad, I am tough on the mouthpiece and I have cracked them. Costly to replace. I am currently on the wife's insurance. Just thinking ahead.

Here is what I know, if you are diagnosed with sleep apnea and are headed to Schneider,
1) Send in the results of your Sleep Test - Schneider Medical will review and decide (to thier standards) if you require a CPAP (Don't ask me what thier standards are LOL)
2) If you are hired on, you will be required to sign onto thier Insurance Program
3) A new machine will be ordered for you until it arrives you will have a rental
4) You will have to pay $36.50 (Equipment & Supplies) for 12 weeks, then $13.00 a week after until the new machine is paid for
5) You will be required to remain in usage compliance - No less than 4 hrs a night 70% of nights. Not sure how it is monitored.
Anymore than this, you would need to contact Schneider
I might have more information after I head down to orientation, I am HOPING that my home tests shows a negative so I don't have to deal with this when I get started.
Regarding the mouthpiece, you would have to talk to them regarding that. There is more info on the Schneider forum, look under the Sleep Apnea posts. -
Good information. I hadn't really thought about this. I wonder if the "sleep apnea" is a standard question from all companies? I bet it is! I'm going to check into getting a sleep test next week.
Do you know if most companies require drivers to sign up for health insurance? I prefer to stay on my wife's policy.
Thanks again for the information! -
well the health ins. law just says you have to have it
Nottoway Thanks this. -
